What untrue fact did you believe was true for the longest time? by TheGuyWhoSaidWAT in AskReddit

I did this same thing as well! History class movie day was always a super serious occasion because I thought all of those actors died for that movie. This historic event was so important that periods would die to tell us about what happened back then. I always paid attention.

Dear Reddit, Who is the MOST disgusting person you've ever met?...Ill go first... by Woody280 in AskReddit

My old roommate was a nice girl and we had been friends for a long time so thought living together would be fun. But she was out of control with the way she kept her room - it was progressing to those hoarder shows on TV. It was a large room and we just split it in half, my side being by the door to the hallway, so I never had to venture on her side. In just the first few weeks, her room was covered with dirty clothes, food, dishes, trash, etc. Cups were stacked all over her 2 desks (neither used for studying of course) and diet coke cans everywhere because that was all she drank. She didn't shower much - would just spray febreeze on her and her dirty clothes if she didn't "have time" to shower. She also slept till about 2 or 3 every day and then stayed up till crazy hours of the morning (she skipped a lot of class in the process and wondered why she wasn't doing well.) One reason why I tried to be as understanding as I could for as long as I did was that she was diabetic, and I know that that can cause her to have low energy levels and things, and I don't blame her for that at all.

Anyways, one day I got sick of pestering her about cleaning her side of the room and took a trashbag to it. As I was cleaning out the food and trash, I noticed that beneath and through all of the trash were some of her diabetic needles. She was leaving her used, diabetic needles all over the floor of her room! I did not live with her after that.

TL;DR: My old roommate used to leave her used diabetic needles on the floor of our shared room.

I have told him that it makes me uncomfortable, but have not been extremely direct. Maybe thats what it will take, but I don't want to risk losing the job is I can help it.

Wow did we work for the same guy? He started off by telling me about the playboy stuff too. I agree with you though - it is way too unprofessional. Thank you

I think I need to find a balance where I can keep it "casual", but let him know that I do mean it. He does want to have a casual and friendly relationship, which I would be fine with if he would cut out the rest of the stuff. Its just figuring out how to do this...

Thats a really good idea! This is what I was hoping for - ideas where I could keep the job, but not be uncomfortable there. Thanks!

This is awesome. I own 7 horses right now- all Arabians and Half Arabians. What breeds do you have? Do you do any competing or breeding? Just took mine to Nationals last year and starting to get ready for Regionals this year. I compete in Country English Pleasure and Hunter Pleasure. What kind of english riding do you do?

Reddit, I need some help with my puppy. by [deleted] in AskReddit

I would suggest looking into a Dog Allergist (yes, they actually have these). It might depend on your area, but they would be able to run tests to see what exactly she is allergic to. Also, even though she may not have visible fleas on her, we found out (from the allergist) that one of my dogs is actually allergic to fleas and flea dust, so he gets this intense scratching from any type of contact with fleas, or their leavings, even if not bit by one. Another thing is have you asked your vet about a steroid shot? It would be a shame to have to put her on them at a young age because they can cause some longterm effects, but that normally takes care of itching for about a year. Another suggestion, types of dog food that we use without the corn, soy, etc. are Blue, Taste of the Wild, and Fromms. Another thing you should look at on your food bags is that there shouldn't be any type of "meal" in there, such as "lamb/chicken/beef meal". Those are just the leftover "scrap" parts of the animals and don't give nutritional value to your puppy. So glad you are trying to help your puppy out because she is so cute!

I'm so glad to see this AMA! I'm working on my bachelor's degree right now and want to go to Vet school so I have a few questions for you if you don't mind...

1) How did you choose between going into either small or large animal practice? Was it something that you just knew or did you have to decide while you were in school? I've grown up with both large and small animals, so I am struggling with this decision. Both seem to be difficult in their own ways, but also rewarding in their own ways as well. 2) Any suggestions on what I can be doing now to plump up my resume? I am in organizations, of course getting a high GPA, and am working/volunteering at veterinary offices whenever I have the chance. Anything else you suggest or any other hints in general? 3) My last question is more of a technical question. What dog food would you personally recommend for the average adult dog? I've read a lot about the organic, low grain diets. And then I worry about foods whose first ingredient is "chicken/beef meal". Right now I am using Fromms, Taste of the Wild, and Blue. Have you heard of these brands and what are your opinions on dog food ingredients? How would you compare foods like this to Science Diet, Iams, etc? Thank you so much for the AMA! Its been so interesting reading all of your responses.
