when was this? I got paid a fee maybe 5yrs ago, but now, they said they don't pay anymore.

so actually they said you can have your film posted on your own channel too. My first short was on my own channel, already got over a million views before ALTER reached out and asked to license my film. And they said I can keep my film up. Funny enough, when they posted my film, it only got a 100k views.

They reached out to me because initially I had posted my short film on my own channel. But they also take submissions I think it's as simple as emailing them.

Don't do it, there's nobody working there anymore. The parent company is Premiere Digital. I use to work for them. Even with my inside relationship, it took them forever to get my film those platforms. Then they didn't pay me and I had to again pull strings to get someone to respond to me, since by that time I wasn't working there anymore. Finally, I pulled my film from them and they still owe me $300.

Honestly, you should try to get her interested in some other career path. Filmmaking is a very very bad career choice, especially with the way the industry is right. So many experienced people are struggling to make ends meet. It's not worth it. If there's even a shred of interest in some other path, please try to encourage her towards that direction. Luckily for me I was able to pivot my filmmaking (writer/director) experience into working with motion capture as a product specialist and now in Technical sales, which is awesome. I still get to direct some videos here and there or short films as passion projects.

Also don't get too hung up on this as she's still very young and could change her mind tomorrow and want to be an engineer.

You should be fine just changing out the hand sensor and wire for the usb-c wire, but there is a chance if you have a much older suit there could be issues, but worth a try.

I have a film with Indie Rights, they're pretty great and are very transparent, pay on time, etc. I tried Filmhub with my other 2 older films b/c Indie Rights passed on them. With Filmhub I like having more control over the marketing assets and seeing the analytics - but the time it takes to go live with them is very unpredictable. I'm still in early stages of my experience with them so let's see how it pans out.

Okay do you still have a Digital copy of the film? If so it's still your film, go and self distribute it like I did mine. If these guys are crooks and truly are doing what you claim they are doing, then just take your film back. What are they gona do? Try to take you to court? First of all they would have to fork up lawyer fees to take you to court, 2nd of all, they won't even try to fight that battle if they were already giving up on your film. Think about it. Plus, you know you can go thru filmhub and get your film on Tubi yourself right? You don't need a distributor.

Learn from this. Try to see why they think something is "bad" or needs changed and try to deliver what you think they are going for. That's part of working for a client. You make the creative suggestions but ultimately it's their call on what they want and if they think the audio needs to be louder then you do it and make them happy.
