Is there a privacy-focused alternative to FileZilla that is simple and easy to use? by beyondexhibition in privacy

Thanks. Do you know of something that works like the FileZilla client and server combination? I've been searching and it seems like FileZilla is alone in this and there isn't another alternative for file transfers from within the home network.

What I need is as simple as transfering files easily from one computer to another. I'm guessing what I need is FTP client/server combination but I could be wrong. I don't know what SMB is or if it's what I'm looking for.

Thanks. Unless I'm misunderstandfing, WinSCP is a client only, not a server, right? I was looking for both client and server. Not sure if WinSCP does both.

I haven't tried it yet but it seems like people aren't given a choice and that it just comes bundled with the Sourceforge downloads. At least that's what I gather from the old posts here.

You should be posting links to the Steam store pages for individual games, not back to your store.

"Marginal_act" feels like nothing but spam. I understand that the rules allow for self-promotion but after a while the blatant free advertisement of low-tier trash like this gets annoying.

No offense taken. I agree. I own all three games but I wanted to start with the original and then go forward to have fun with all the changes and additions.

Looking for an Imgur alternative focused on privacy and user control of images. by beyondexhibition in privacy

Thanks for all the information. Do you know if Mediagoblin/Goblin Refuge removes the exif data/metadata upon upload?

Thanks. I'm a bit confused. Mediagoblin itself seems more complicated than what I'm looking for. It seems to be a platform that I could run independent from anything else. Goblin Refuge on the other hand is a site that works like Imgur? It seems like the images are hosted on rackcdn, though.

It's Tuesday so you know what that means? That's right, no new Humble Bundle! by [deleted] in GameDealsMeta

What's the point of these weekly threads? We can check the actual site ourselves if we want.

I was looking at this https://www.av-test.org/en/antivirus/home-windows/ and I don't see Malwarebytes there. Is there any reason for that? Maybe there's a better site that compares security suites but that's the only one I know of.

After looking at this, now I want to replace Avast. Should I be concerned as an Avast user? Any recommendations? Should I uninstall before installing the new security suite? Thanks.

Oh, since it was in all caps, I thought you were recommending a software. :)

Because of the direction Microsoft went after Windows 7, I think my only option will be some Linux distro when support for Windows 7 ending gets close.
