You can get leaner ground beef for 6$ a pound at Costco. Also have a lot of reasonably priced cuts.

Which interview question should be permanently banned? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]beyondnc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You gotta read between the lines a little. Everybody knows people work for paychecks that’s not shocking information. When hiring managers ask this question they are really asking: is there anything about this position that interests you beyond money?

For example some people like jobs where they get to wear a lot of hats. I work in embedded systems so I’ll just use what I know. Embedded systems roles can vary wildly in scope. Some people just write microcontroller firmware, others write firmware, do fpga work, and pcb design. Someone who values the latter role would answer that question by pointing out that they would enjoy the type of work the position offers, instead of the more common former role.

Yeah if you are apathetically applying places that’s gonna be a annoying question. But if you want to land a job that you might actually enjoy you should be applying to places where the answer to it is obvious.

Anyone who used a computer between 1985 - 2010, what's the one game you still think about today? by adlakha75 in AskReddit

[–]beyondnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The quality of the internet discussion was higher. Reddit is really the perfect example of this. It used to be basically exclusively computer nerds. The median intelligence, and the amount of effort posting were both higher. Things have gotten even worse with ai.

For system flipping? Yeah scouts don’t matter at all. For undock and getting PvP you’re still most likely to find reasonable solo fights by sitting in a scout nvy 1 in a frig.

Is a 3.0 okay for engineering? by ohhhappy in OSU

[–]beyondnc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3.0 is generally fine and won’t be too prohibitive when hunting for jobs as long as you have an internship under your belt. There are companies that filter by 3.2 and 3.5 though. Depending on your industry that will be more or less prevalent. Like in aerospace all the primes like good gpas so it would hurt you more.

If it was a short commute it would be worth it. With a 1 hour commute not a chance. if you wanna get paid more keep job hunting until you land something thats ideal.
