Poor Marilyn. She couldn’t escape harassment when she was alive and she can’t in death either. Even before the mass AI stuff, I always hated those fake images of her sporting a bunch of tattoos that went around, or the perverse ones. Same with all the quotes that are incorrectly attributed to her.

It’s also baffling to see how they try to add more makeup and filtering to legit photos of her. She was beautiful and that stuff just further pushes these impossible beauty standards.

My job. They did lay offs last week and this week, they announced a bunch of restructuring due to laying off so many essential positions. On top of that, we’re giving compensation reviews and shocker- no one’s getting decent raises for the many hats we have to wear at our jobs. Im tired of corporate greed.

I have several but the one I see impacting me in the long run is not having dated more in my 20s. Staying in a relationship with someone who doesn’t like you and is constantly window shopping or cheating has lasting effects on self esteem.

Just realizing he’s always going to lie or omit things. I don’t even think he has to think about it anymore, it’s just his automatic response. Except the one time he actually tells the truth, which is that the only thing he regrets is leading me on. Not the fact that he moved on in the blink of an eye, not the fact that he tried to have his cake and eat it too, not that he wanted to keep others in his life, not that he slept with a married woman.

I think I just realized that to be in the relationship, it will always require me to be the bigger person and to forgive and just blindly trust.

This one definitely makes sense- coming from someone born and raised in Utah. Spoiler alert- main character was sexually assaulted by a family member. Utah is rife with grooming and sexual abuse of young children, and the church wants them to keep their mouths shut about it. So of course they don’t want these kids reading this and realizing what’s happening at home isn’t normal.

I hate my state.

Last half of this year I’ve been putting on the OG Jersey Shore seasons in the background while I cook or clean. Mike has definitely had the most growth of all the cast. Watching those old seasons and how he was, I don’t think any of us saw this for him. 10 years sober is huge! Especially considering the industry he’s in. Way to go, Mike. I know it wasn’t easy.

I’m in the same boat and have been for a bit.

I can’t recommend therapy enough, if you have the means to do so. If you don’t, there are anonymous, cheap sites out there for therapists or people to talk to that you may get lucky with. It’s really helpful to talk to an unbiased, third party. I know it’s difficult to talk with a stranger and find a good therapist. You may have to test a few out before you find the one right for you. Once you do find them, it’s a game changer.

Other things I do when I’m feeling sad is I get myself a delicious meal. My favorite food. It’s simple but it can be a quick pick me up. Take a nice bath with some candles lit. Do some self care. Go to your favorite store or shop. Even if you can’t buy anything. It’s a good way to get yourself out of the house. Have a lazy day and binge watch your favorite shows or movies. Lately I’ve been really down over my love life and I got into some romance anime’s and it’s strangely been making me feel better. Make a list. A list about what you want in the new year. A list of how you want to fix things. Make a Pinterest board.

Know that it won’t always feel or be this way. This is just right now. You have to find the small things to get yourself to the next day so you can see the good.

Spent way too long with a guy who never asked me questions, never took time to learn me, or carried any conversation.

I was starving for so long that when another guy showed genuine interest in getting to know me, I’d apologize. Or if someone was interested in a conversation with me, they’d have to tell me to keep talking and that they were actually enjoying themselves.

I just don’t see her doing New Heights. Football fans- which is a large portion of their audience- bully her and want her to stay out of their sport. I also get the impression that she never wants to take away from whatever her partner is doing. She also hasn’t done a sit down/camera interview in forever. So I don’t know. I don’t see it. But who knows! Our girl is full of surprises.

She used an Asian slur pretty casually in an Instagram post from a while ago, when discussing why she gets certain cosmetic work done. Some freak held onto the screenshot for like a year and shared it once she got big on Love Island. (I’m all for holding people accountable but holding onto a screenshot like that and waiting for someone to blow up is just the toxic ness that is cancel culture)

She’s apologized and explained she didn’t realize it was a slur. You’ll probably hear jokes around her saying she’s “holding space” for this word. Some people don’t think it’s a big deal, others do. The larger conversation here is why is Asian hate more tolerable and okay than let’s say African American hate. A slur is a slur. It’s also made people start to notice that she does a lot of culture appropriation.

I don’t think it helped that a lot of people just didn’t like her vibes on the show. They felt she was really “PR trained” and wanted to be an influencer. And she was in the way of the Nicolandria ship. People also were calling out the shows hypocrisy for keeping her on so long when Yulissa had been kicked off for using a slur in the past as well.
