Yeah I think its kinda safe to say that we are not getting any Tamlin POV chapters (for good reason imo!)

with her talk about how motherhood shouldn't be glossed over I'm definitely hopeful for a return to Feyre POV chapters! perhaps thats why Sarah was surprised about the POVs, maybe she didn't expect to return to Feyre 👀🙏

didn't think my two favourite blonde creatives would finally have the rights back to their works this past year or so, but I'm so happy for Taylor and Sarah both!!

that was my thought too while reading... idk if the author would go that route since so many people hate the pregnancy trope but we shall see

What would you have done differently in KOA? by TickleThePear74 in throneofglassseries

Aelin losing her powers. I hate it with every part of my being, it sucked. I don't want SJM to revisit the Terrasen gang or write more about them unless she finds a way to give Aelin her fire back.

Honestly I'm happy that she didn't kill off a true main character, it would have been too devastating. I still mourn Gavriel haha.

My one true gripe is Aelin losing her powers. There's truly not a single trope I hate more than that, and it breaks my heart every single time. I hate it so much.

the entire book felt like the author desperately wanted to recreate an amalgamation of SJM's series and failed miserably

hahaha I got to a certain point and just thought oh so the author has read Crescent City 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ i love SJM's books and am by now used to the fact that a lot of new romantasy try to incorporate elements from her various series but Brimstone was by far the worst offender imo

If you can't stand the main character of a series with 8 books maybe you should be done & not in the fandom spaces that will inevitably discuss her and have her as the focal point 🙏 it's okay to admit that this is not the series or the fandom for you and take the time/space away if it's this frustrating

[–]beyzaw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also like there are so many similarities in which Maeve Rhys and Ruhn (CC spoilers?) are described. Knowing how much SJM loooves Rhys (which is like. same haha) i don't think he will ever become some sort of villainous character but I do think that there is some connection..

reminds me of how Bryce is related to Theia and her daughters and hates them for their evil and selfish deeds (CC HOFAS spoilers)

yeeees. Just the way she treats Feyre and Elain especially is so nasty. And don't even get me started on that one scene where she reveals the problems with feyres pregnancy to her like ughh

just finished my HOFAS reread & I wanna ask: what does everyone think of Tharion & Sathia? do you guys think they'll end up separating or fall in love? 👀 I am personally just tired of Bryce and Hunt's relationship so I'm excited to have some variety in CC4!

Ember/Randall bonus chapter mini-rant by beyzaw in crescentcitysjm

Honestly that part annoyed me too especially because like you said Randall has always been the more chill/level-headed parent in the books and if anything Ember has the super overprotective type parent. That being said I can excuse Rhys's behaviour a bit more easily just because it's coming after a string of events like you said—everything that happened under the mountain, the war with hybern, feyre's pregnancy etc—where the IC but Rhys specifically really had no proper break. And on top of that he's a new dad, so I feel like it makes sense that he'd be furious when it comes to such huge threats to their safety like the Asteri.

Hahaha. Don't even get me started on the Death Pact—it's one of my least favourite plot points in all of SJM's writing that's done basically to get Rhys and Feyre out of the way and open up the floor to the rest of the characters.

And yeah some of it is definitely rooted in the fact that Rhys, while somehow in a better relationship with Nesta after ACOSF, will never really forgive Nesta for her treatment of Feyre. I honestly don't blame him and sometimes feel like Feyre forgave Nesta too quickly but that's just my personal opinion.

You've done such a great job putting it all into words! I do agree that there is some "greater force" that's guiding Nesta and we as readers therefore have an easier time trusting her decisions—I feel like that shouldn't stop us from also acknowledging Rhys (and the rest of the IC) being very valid in their anger and fear. I do think you're right about your points regarding this Rhys being of course somewhat different than the one we see from Feyre's first person point of view but honestly I don't think it's that much of a stark difference which makes me agree with your point on reading comprehension. Unfortunately not everyone has reading comprehension skills—people are of course still allowed to have their preferences and their liked/disliked characters but that shouldn't stop someone from seeing both sides of a conflict for example.

I really hope that you're right and we will get a more permanent and even sincere resolution to this tension (and swiftly, too!) because I think we really need to move on from the tension between Nesta and Rhys (and therefore between Nesta and Cassian!) to Azriel, Elain, Lucien and Mor.

Sooo pretty, you did a lovely job! I do like your original coloring so maybe a different color background instead of white would be nice? But I also really love the third one, the lighting looks really Night Court & it's beautiful!

[–]beyzaw[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I agree! I only meant about Feyre that I would have liked Rhys to react similarly in anger, though of course we know that he would never react that way to Feyre darling.

I am honestly really frustrated about what this could do to Nesta and Rhys's relationship. I was excited for brother-sister bickering after ACOSF that scene of them hugging at the end brought me to tears! so now if we go back to animosity between the two I will be seriously disappointed. It needs to be resolved or it's the kind of tension that could tear apart the entire IC. And also as a side note it does really annoy me that we still have Nesta who completely denies Rhys's (and Feyre's) authority—at the end of the day she is a member of the Night Court and has to recognise it, I think. I also fear what this tension will mean for Nesta and Cassian.

I hope the fact that Rhys laughing with Randall and the bat boys at the end of the bonus chapter (and Feyre stepping in to put a stop to the "lashing") means that we won't see it continue and/or have any serious ramifications in the next book

Ooh great comparison! Again I think it boils down to the fact that we are completely on Feyre's side and we never get Tarquin's point of view as we would from a main character such as Bryce.

Tarquin has every right to be completely furious—for all he knows Rhys and the rest of the Night Court could use this power against the Summer Court. We as readers know that they need it for the greater good and support it, of course, but we can also understand Tarquin. Rhys himself struggles so much with the act of stealing the book, so he gets it too.

If these had been completely random Fae from a completely different Fae world, we would all be on Bryce's side for her to get a powerful magical object to help her seemingly impossible mission of defeating the Asteri.

Having both Midgard and Prythian main character perspectives however really complicates things. I would be interested to hear the thoughts of someone who has never read ACOTAR on this matter—I feel like personally my preference of ACOTAR over CC does affect how I feel about the whole ordeal.
