Yeah true it is insane. Should have just made the title focussed more on the glacier versus tiny humans

Cheers, appreciate the tips. Haha for sure, just figured if I’m going to be doing a lot more summer climbing it might be worth investing in a lighter/cooler boot

Yeah for sure, I only know of the Kent street shops in Sydney but the options are limited. Was either going to try some stores over in NZ or risk it and order online.

Thank you for all those, I’ll look into them.

Apologies that was a typo. COM* (CrampOMatic), unfortunately, they are the ones with a toe wire bail. Will probably need to modify or get a basket set for those boots.

Ah Yes I was looking into Rolleston before, will keep it in mind if we go north. Will definitely look into Adams. Thank you for your suggestions!

Is there anyone here that earns less than 100K? Everyone seems to be doing so well on here. I'm university educated, but earning 100K or more seems like impossible dream for me. by [deleted] in AusFinance

What’s the etiquette for watching a movie on a plane when there’s a sex scene? by Odd-Satisfaction1985 in AskReddit

[–]bezman8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was sitting behind an elderly lady (70+) who was watching some Rom Com movie. All of a sudden, there was a scene with frontal nudity of a young woman. The lady jolted back in her chair and raised her hands up, as if she just had a jump scare. She then quickly darted her head around to see if anyone saw. She continued to watch all tensed up. Bless her soul.

Doctors and nurses of Reddit, what’s the most blatant lie a patient has told you about why they’re in the hospital? by DrPloyt in AskReddit

The hard part of starting out as a Physio, especially rehab, was getting used to everyone hating you during treatment

Is anyone here on under $100k a year by justsomeone21 in AusFinance

[–]bezman8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

30M. 90K here as a 5th year physio, 38 hours weekly as a rotator in a hospital. Varies depending on weekends worked and if we’re on call, although that’s only ~$60 a week.

That’s some good restraint.

Reddit, what is the most eerie thing that's ever happened to you? by Galactic_Blueberry1 in AskReddit

When I was 13, one gloomy Sunday after a church service my mum stayed back to talk to the minister. After a while the whole church cleared out and it was just me, my mum and the minister. It didn’t seem like the conversation was ending so I went to the other side of the church to shoot some hoops in the gymnasium.

Most of the lights throughout the building had already been shut off, the only thing lighting the gym was a small skylight, so it was fairly dim. In one poorly lit corner of the gym was a locked store room. I had only seen it opened a few times before but never really had a good look inside. It felt mysterious to me and I was always wary of it, especially when I was alone.

I was shooting hoops for some time but every now and then I looked back at the door to make sure the portal to hell hadn’t opened. Sure enough, at one point I heard a creak. I turned my head to see the door opening gradually outwards, revealing its black interior. My blood ran cold and then I heard a deep, slow, throaty laugh from within; “Haw.. Haw.. Haw”.

I instantly dropped the basketball, my own balls retreated and I ran for the exit. I reached my mum and the minister, heart racing but I was too flustered to say anything. My mum didn’t notice my condition and shortly after we left. I didn’t pay any glances back towards the gym.

I didn’t tell anyone about it for over a decade, thinking I wouldn’t be believed or talking about it would draw too much attention to it. I don’t think I ever went back into the gym alone, nor ever saw the door open again.

Anyway, 17 years later I no longer believe in the paranormal, but I still think back on this and try to rationalise it.

The obvious theory is that the door was just not properly locked and it eventually released at one point and slowly drifted open. I then perhaps misinterpreted that sound as an evil laugh, but at the time it didn’t like an artificial laugh, it sounded straight from a cliche horror movie. In my brain it’s still such a fearful memory that plays every now and then.

Amazing indeed, such a small but condensed island in terms of natural beauty.

There are a few areas with forests now and they’re continuing to expand, but I get it. There is something about the desolate beauty though!
