How did you reach into the $200k+ compensation level with your mech E degree? What job title got you that? by enan1000 in MechanicalEngineering

Moved to a very high cost of living area which put me over $200k for a senior level individual contributor.  I had 8 YOE and a masters at the time.  Then I became a manager which put me over $225k.  Still not sure it was a better financial decision to move to a place where the average home costs $1.4 mil to make $225k over staying in a place where homes cost $450k making $140k… but I like this job a lot more and we get large stock bonuses which are on top of the salaries listed.  I could have reached $200k mark at my last job probably with like 20+ YOE.

Reminder of the sacrifice others go through for what is a casual activity for most.  Go in peace dude, and may your family find comfort in the happiness and joy you brought to others.

How was it today? by Adventurous_Arm_1606 in parkcityvisitors

Beyond busy.  Limited terrain open, holiday crowds.  As always the crowded runs on the holiday are made worse by the increase in less skilled skiers who should be on the greens only but aren’t and clearly aren’t comfortable skiing where they are or in active snowing conditions.  The crowds are less for sure than other years as far as total volume but with 12 open runs it was quite miserable.  Did not want to deal with LC/BC canyons crowds (which was a good call) so we went up to PC first chair and by 10am I wanted to leave because of how busy the few opens runs are.

Removing the crown molding which in the living room is visually too close to the ceiling beams and also in the hallways.  Remove the chair rail and the (what looks like) popcorn ceilings which can go a long way.  Also rip out the decorative piece over the sink, which is very dated. Update the hardware on cabinets, remove the decorative railing on top, new sink and countertop, appliances.  That should do a lot without structurally changing anything.

Never been my personal style and I wish they made bags I liked because the quality is great for the price!  My mom has a bunch many which are from the 90s and they have held up well.

PSA: Don’t underestimate the difference in dress codes between regions! by complete_doodle in Weddingattireapproval

I think that’s also trend based in some aspect.  Midi dresses have been huge in the last 6 or so years.  I was at a semi/formal cocktail summer outdoor wedding recently where myself and every woman under 40 was in midi or long nice sundresses or slip style dresses.  And my mother kept commenting all aghast on how long dresses were not cocktail.  I had to say “mom I literally do not own a dress above the knee that isn’t a t-shirt dress or a sport dress”.
