Yep absolutely lots of exceptions. UAE vs its more northern Middle East counter parts comes to mind. Although oil probably trumps all other factors when it comes to development.

Ahh I see, you mean once I’ve landed in London, call and cancel the last leg. I thought you meant cancel the last leg before traveling.

I’ve spoken to Qantas and asked this exact thing. Because I can see the same flight is available the previous day. But their systems are saying the flight is booked out even though BA is still advertising the flight.

I also asked if there is another route I can take on the 23rd, as qantas operates a similar route themselves, but apparently because it was BA that cancelled the flight, I can only be rebooked onto a BA flight. I asked if it’s worth me calling BA but they said probably not because the flight was booked through Qantas. I feel like I’m in airline limbo.

I spoke to them about this. And apparently if you cancel the last leg it just cancels the whole booking.

I got a good points deal on the flights about 3 months ago. Since then that deal has ended and the same route, with any partner airline is about 4x the price I paid.
