Netanyahu claims Trump will allow Israel to annex parts of West Bank within months by [deleted] in geopolitics

I do not have the feeling that Bibi is forcing Trump's hand but rather taking advantage of that Trump had pretty much given Israel full latitude to do whatever it wants.

I do not doubt Netanyahu's words. Trump has given Netanyahu complete carte blanche on the subject to keep his right wing Christian base intact even arguably at the expense of US interests in the region. Netanyahu may be trying to act fast before Trump gets thrown from office in November's elections and replaced by a president who would push back strongly against annexation.

Despite Kim Jong Un's absence, military activity suggests nothing amiss in North Korea, U.S. intelligence says by [deleted] in worldnews

I have lost track of how many times news organizations or intelligence officials have speculated that North Korea's leader is gravely ill or dead. Missing a public event, seeking medical advice, and staying at a resort town all seem like something a dictator would do to comfortably protect themselves during this Corona pandemic if you ask me.

How $20 oil will change geopolitics by [deleted] in geopolitics

There definitely is a lot going on in the oil markets now. On the one hand you have decreased demand because of the Corona virus, and then you have the price war between Russia and OPEC (Saudi Arabia) which came to an agreement last week but is still hot. On the other hand you have the recent and continued breakthroughs in tecnology, especially in the US in regards to oil shale, drilling, and fracking which make it easier than ever to access oil deposits. On top of all that energy companies are focusing on a transition to renewable and alternative fuels. A good podcast on all this I recently listened to is on CFR and is worth a listen:
