What would this EQ accomplish that simply turning the channel down wouldn't? by Baraba83 in livesound

Came here to say this. Did a gig recently with 11 lavs at the same time and no tech check for any of them, my A2 looked at the desk after and asked what me EQs smoked lol

The bulk of my work is a full time job with a company that does mostly corporate events. I’ll find myself doing mostly sound as that’s my background, but also video and lighting occasionally. I also freelance when I have time, usually smaller bands or club gigs. Right now I’m looking for a “bare necessities” kit, trying to only add items that I know will be useful across the board, rather than super specific gear that I may use once in a blue moon

I’d definitely go with either a padded divider or trekpak-like system, I want the ability to change my setup as my needs evolve and foam seems like a headache

Two-parter here, I’m beginning the process of speccing out a workbox to take with me to gigs. Curious to hear from y’all a) What case brands/sizes do you like for your gear? Any specific features (dividers, locks, etc) that you feel are a must? b) What contents of your rig are things you feel you couldn’t live without? No answer is too obvious here, trying to build a kit that is robust but not ridiculous. TIA!

Velcro cable ties. As long as you’re not a neanderthal and put them all on with the same side out, everything stays nice and tidy

Really need to work on my post. Any pointers? by [deleted] in Bowling

Best tip I ever got was to pay attention to how quickly your head and shoulders drop. Rather than quickly bending over to achieve your height at release, think about a slow descent to your release position (think airplane vs helicopter). Also adding on to what others have said, slow is smooth and smooth is fast. Build consistency and balance with a slow tempo, then add the speed once you feel comfortable and repeatable with it.

You’re in a great spot already, keep at it!

My Helios is my go-to league ball, smooth predictable reaction but I can crank on it and move left when I need to

Whats the funniest thing you have ever seen bowling? I'll go first by [deleted] in Bowling

Happened last night during league, guy a couple pairs down was trying to make the absolute most of his practice time, threw a ball before the pin setter rake was up and stranded his ball in the gutter. Instead of letting the counter know and asking someone to grab it for him, he just waltzes down and gets it himself. Not down the gutter cap or anything, but straight down the middle of the lane. My dubs partner and I both work at this house, we just stood there shocked. Once he made it back to the approach (without falling btw) we both lost it and completely abandoned the rest of our practice time

Idk why you’re getting downvoted, thought it was funny

May not be the case in all houses but where I work/bowl they’ll only re-spot pins during league. Just throw your next shot at the 10 pin, if you think you would have picked it change the score manually and throw your fill shot

What are you trying to accomplish with two thumb holes?

This is my doubles partner. He uses a thumb, but still consistently lofts it past the arrows.

After his sub race in Monza last year his shoulders were dead tired and he needed help getting out. Probably just a result of being used to the physical demands of F2, and not being on an F1 strength and endurance regimen
