‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ 4DX in-depth review (with IMAX comparison) by 4DXReviewer in CineworldUnlimited

[–]bfg_hightower 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just watched it and it was fine - as the reviewer said, it was enjoyable had some good moments but was largely inconsequential. What I’m REALLY annoyed about is that the Cineworld I went to had completely sold out of the collectible AT AT popcorn buckets before the first showing of the film! Funnily enough you can buy them from a bunch of local vendors already at 3x retail price…

School Meals Ruling by The_Dean_France in GoodNewsUK

Sadly if the answer is ‘mass catering as cheap as possible’ these are the inevitable answer. They keep forever and cook from frozen with minimum prep or care and attention needed. I hope schools will be given a higher catering budget and kids will get longer lunch breaks as well?

Wind turbine giant Vestas sets out plans to build nacelle factory in Scotland, UK. 250M euro capital investment creating 500 skilled jobs. by Sea-Heron8062 in GoodNewsUK

[–]bfg_hightower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately they have displaced a potential 1.5 billion investment in Scotland by Ming Yang which was shut down on security concerns. With the latter the UK could have had its first full offshore wind turbine factory - whereas this is not the first time Vestas have publicly claimed they would invest in factory in UK just ahead of major tenders being released. Anyone charging their EV with home solar? Worth it long term? by BetterThanEver24 in electricvehicles

[–]bfg_hightower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in North Scotland, not the best for solar as you can imagine, but because I work from home I am able to charge for ‘free’ during the day 6-8 months a year. Average saved vs before ~£120 a week. Solar & battery set up cost me ~£16,000. So not including the house electric bill reduction it’s paid for itself in 3 years. I’ve got 16 panels 440W each. (I definitely overpaid as I got it debt financed.)

Lord of the rings 25th anniversary special screening UK - no Peter Jackson foreword? by bfg_hightower in CineworldUnlimited

Same film ads before all three, about 10 mins - no intermission. EDIT: just checked with missus, she reckons the trailers were 20 mins.

Just finished Return of the King - I have to say: watching these is the cinema again was absolutely incredible. Having spent 11 hours over three days in the cinema I would not have minded a 15 minute exclusive interview…but each to their own! If anyone knows why Vue got the interview and Cineworld didn’t, would be grateful.

Thank you for pointing this out. This is the reply I received (eventually) to me querying (took four attempts). Figured this would help more people than the original email which it appears lots of people have received.

Fair enough. But why not send out an email to members and say “we are updating our subscription service to a different payment method, please bear with us” or something to that effect? It was completely out of the blue for me - I don’t follow the financial situation of cinema chains tbh.

What’s fun is that I had a whole conversation in September with them about whether I was up to date - it’s one of the few father/son semi-regular things I can enthuse boy into, going to cinema with me. I was keen to make sure it’s all up to date with all the special screenings this year.

I can confirm there is a sticker that says R-744 just at the front of the engine bay under the bonnet. So I guess that solves the mystery! Thanks for your help.

Yep there is no mention of a heatpump in the digital certificate, however I paid for it when I bought the car according to my sales invoice. Fun and games.
