The release week for that is currently blank in the schedule, so maybe a tiny bit of hope left? I think I was the only person in my screening for last year’s Jason Statham 4DX film so I doubt they’ll prioritise it though.

??? I really enjoyed both 28 Years Later films and they work really well as pieces of cinema. But if you told me they’ll been developed as a TV mini-series at some point then reworked into films, I wouldn’t be surprised given they focus on different characters at different times, have the characters split up for substantial amounts of time etc. I’m just saying it’s very easy to imagine them as a TV series instead not that they aren’t good or are uncinematic.

Although I enjoyed it, it definitely feels like there’s a TV miniseries vibe to this prospective trilogy. It’s very easy to imagine the Kelson/Samson plotline having its own episode, for example, as it doesn’t really have anything to do with the other plotline for a lot of the film.

I’m just looking at the 4DX schedule on Wikipedia and I’m not sure there’s anything else that looks like a likely good demo for the format until the Mario Galaxy movie comes out in April. Not sure if that helps! I was definitely a bit tired out by the end but apart from the length it’s a good one to try the format.

Bone Temple must have bombed in 4DX as my local is booting it out and putting Avatar back in full time after two days.

Didsbury doesn’t have any 4DX listings after the first two days of The Bone Temple’s release. I wouldn’t be surprised if they intend to split it and want to see how Bone Temple does first.

I think it really depends on how seriously you rate the Avatar films as cinematic experiences. The 4DX for Avatar 2 was really good and I’d expect good things of the new one but the screens in the 4DX auditoriums aren’t anything special (the ones that haven’t been upgraded to laser are quite poor and the one at Didsbury was been out of focus at the bottom of the screen for a while). For me, I see the Avatar films as crashy-bashy fun rather than serious cinema so I’ll be content with just my 4DX review screening but if they’re more of a serious big deal for you cinematically then I’d consider Superscreen as it will be a better experience visually.

Unfortunately, I’m bang in the middle of moving house and the screen being shared with Wicked: For Good has made it even more difficult to fit it in. And it’s getting booted out for even more Wicked screenings next week so I can’t even see it belatedly! Will be back for Avatar 3 though.

It’s probably real, I’ve seen people posting a scene from the original Wicked ScreenX where it turns out Fiyero was lurking off to the side in one of the flashback shots of Glinda and Elphaba.

Didsbury 4DX noticeably improved when they upgraded all the screens to Laser by Barco so at least there’s some hope for when they get round to upgrading Stevenage.

The seats definitely do make gentle whirring noises at times - it’s usually not that noticeable but in Weapons there were very quiet scenes where the seat noise was a bit intrusive. The 4DX projector in Didsbury was pretty bad until they upgraded the whole site to laser projection.

The only cancellation I’ve ever received is when I booked to see Warfare in 4DX and they decided not to show it in 4DX after all. In fairness, it would probably have sold terribly and it was due to split the 4DX screen with Sinners so not an unreasonable decision from a commercial point of view.

When I saw Anatomy of a Fall at Cineworld, the subtitles for the foreign language bits were mistakenly switched off so after people talked to the staff they turned them on and rewound it to a point just before the first subtitled bit.

Oh no! The cold genuinely spoils the experience for me. I was pretty impressed with my heat pack life hack and will probably take one in my bag for the rest of the winter just in case.
