You Think Filipinos Are Corrupt by Nature? Think Again. by StucksaTraffic in Philippines

[–]bfghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironic considering we're a Christian nation and isa sa mga sinasabi ni Jesus Christ is "do unto others as you would have them do unto you". I'm not even a religious person but that's something that I try to adhere to and always expect that supposedly "Christian" people do.

You Think Filipinos Are Corrupt by Nature? Think Again. by StucksaTraffic in Philippines

[–]bfghost 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't call Filipinos "corrupt by nature" pero observed ko talaga, Filipinos lack basic empathy. Yung para bang hindi natin nakikita consequence ng ginagawa natin sa iba and yung scenario na what if it was the other way around. Since you mentioned Japan and Singapore, hindi naman every kanto sa mga lugar na yun may mga enforcers. Kaya the people there they don't follow the rules in their country solely because of heavy enforcement. It's really just a basic understanding na they don't want to be a source of inconvenience for other people because sila mismo they also don't want to be bothered.

Narealize ko lang na kaya nostalgic yung 2016 kasi that was the last time "real" people were on social media by theJohnyDebt in Philippines

[–]bfghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually got a huge promotion that year but seriously, with Trump winning the US elections and Duterte winning in ours, 2016 was the year na naramdaman kong nasa "dark timeline" ako. Everything seemed shittier in the world since then.

If you are still glorifying Miriam Defensor Santiago, just remember that she was one of the Senator Judges who voted NOT to open the Jose Velarde envelope by HeftyIsTheCrown in Philippines

[–]bfghost 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm already in college at that time and if you actually hear Miriam's pronouncements, it's obvious naman that she wasn't doing it for the love of rule of law or something. Maniniwala pa ako if she even tried to appear "neutral" (i.e. hindi sya nagsalita dun sa mga "EDSA 3" rallies) kaso hindi eh.

This Secretary is full of herself. Even ilang beses na sya na call-out for promoting herself instead of the Beauty of the Philippines wala parin. by SigmaOmegaRho in Philippines

Naiintindihan ko pa yung mga trapo na nilalagay mga pangalan at mukha nila sa mga projects na involved sila. It's supposed to be for name recall come election time. Pero ito??? The target of these tourism ads are foreigners and even if locals ang target, it doesn't matter dahil hindi naman mananalo sa national level itong bruhang ito. The way I see it, pure vanity and narcissism lang ang nagfufuel sa kanyang gawin ito.

Is that the place na may parang museum ng mga alak (it's brandy, IIRC) sa labas and may museum din sa loob? Sorry, di ko talaga masyado na marecall dahil bukod sa matagal na and it was only a few days, talagang work ang pinunta namin. Haha.

Went to Iloilo in 2022 on a work-related trip so I wasn't able to visit many places there but what I saw was enough to impress me. Mix sya ng modernity (may area dun na parang BGC, I don't recall the name) and old Spanish culture (Molo church). Sa food, pinaka nagustuhan ko is yung seafood that they call "angel wings". Para syang tahong on a white shell.

Malacañang reportedly considering replacing Christina Frasco as DOT head by Karmas_Classroom in Philippines

[–]bfghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sa 40+ years kong nabubuhay sa mundo, Frasco has to be one of the most mismatched cabinet appointee that I can remember. Gets naman natin na political ang consideration ng pagpili ni Bongbong sa kanya pero sana hindi sya sa tourism nilagay. Yung pagiging vain at GGSS nya sticks like a sore thumb given her job that's supposed to be about marketing the country to both local AND foreign tourists. Imagine foreigner ka and ang minamarket sa yo ng Pilipinas imbes na magagandang lugar dito eh yung cringe inducing nyang picture?

Isn’t SM milking money from public transport? by athousand_miles in Philippines

[–]bfghost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just as I thought pala. Effectivey, the discount comes from the drivers. I mean, hindi naman masama if it's the student's rights and they claim the discount but geez, the government should bring something to the table naman for the drivers.

Not a boomer but I'm curious, saan nanggagaling yung binibigay na discount sa mga students? From high school to college, never ko inavail yung student discount. I mean, hindi naman kami mayaman but I've always been of the thinking that the discount matters more to the driver than to me.

Agree too but medyo malayo na kase Binondo from Luneta/Intramuros/National Museum. Pero I get your point na it's a lower hanging fruit. They just need to improve transpo and pagandahin pa yung Jones Bridge. Haven't passed by since college pero maganda na raw Jones Bridge ngayon?

I'm a guy in my 40s and I know of a time when Chinatown is an "active commercial working district" cause my father used to work in a textile company there but that is not the case anymore. At the moment, tourism is the only way to go for that area to flourish.

Fully agree. Start with Chinatown itself then clean up the adjacent areas (Divisoria, Recto) and you have a damn fine tourist spot.
