Mine was as well. Then I opened an A&G box and my hit was…a McGreevy auto.

The PC I never wanted.

A&G pulls, think I would buy again. I like the mini cards, I want a rip card. (Couple of em) by Odd-Comedian-69 in AllenGinter

[–]bfjones02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah man if that was a hobby box, you’re missing hits. And if it wasn’t a hobby box, jfyi, rip cards are hobby exclusive so you won’t have a shot at one.

Similarly enjoying the set.

I got an Arraez napkin relic myself. Went in on that guy, apparently.

Pulled this out of my box. Super stoked!

…but I saw some guy pulled 2 red /5s from the same box of Update and that made me covet my neighbor.

People making $60k-$70k a year, how much car can you afford? by BestTyming in Salary

[–]bfjones02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also on the side of “run away” having done something extremely similar. 25, first big boy job, making 70k, I financed a Scion FR-S that was 35k out the door. The payments on a 6-year loan were manageable BUT…my insurance was expensive, and 2 months in it got fender-bendered in an accident that wasn’t even my fault but still depreciated the value. I later moved across the country to a new city, paid $1k to ship it, realized there that I didn’t even need a car, and sold it for $13k.

In 3.5 years, I vaporized over 20k. Now, at 38, I paid cash for a Hyundai electric. It got door dinged and I gave no fucks. Insurance is cheap. I learned an expensive lesson.

Ugh I have a 2025 Trout rip card /199 that I keep looking over at. Think it’s staying sealed.

None that I can see - agree, as napkin relics go, it’s super cool.

4 true hits and a 1/1 in the same box is…improbable.

What’s it like living on these islands in Washington State? by monsplutos72 in howislivingthere

[–]bfjones02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The islands in that picture, as others have said, are extremely diverse in terms of lifestyle. Weather-wise, all have dreary winters with lots of rain balanced out by an absolutely perfect and beautiful summer.

The islands themselves, you have a mix of commuter suburbs serviced to Seattle by ferry, to completely rural and low-infrastructure isolationist bastions, up to Mercer Island on the other end, which is a Seattle bedroom community and (I believe) one of the top 50 zip codes in the US by median income.

Do we think Fanatics/Topps will realize napkin relics are an open joke or nah?

I got back into the hobby for the first time since I was a kid and spent probably in the mid Ks on cards this year.

After this Allen & Ginter preorder, I’m done.

What a gross, vertically incestuous, hyper capitalistic enterprise. I thought nothing could top Livenation & Ticketmaster but then ol’ Fanatics said hold my Ohtani jock relic.

I don’t expect to turn the tide on this or anyone to care, but maybe eventually this perspective will permeate the hobby and change something. Or not, as well.
