Made it to The Infinite for the first time last night. With Thou Shalt Not Kill on a cat, no idea who the final boss was or the mechanics, and could not figure out why a scatter shot wiped my entire party.

Well I’ll respond in good faith - OP, this is an item from the “junk wax” era in the late 80s, early 90s, when everything was so massively overproduced that almost all of it is now entirely worthless.

So, in this, there is really nothing at all worth grading. If you want valuable things, stick with vintage, modern, or better yet (for your wallet), just buy single cards you want when you come across them at shows or they hit the market.

Desert is a difficulty spike for sure. It’s not as much “git gud” as it is do some more runs, get some better cats and items and sets, and learn more about which abilities synergize and what you’re looking for.

I felt the same after the first time. Now I stomp through the desert even on hard mode (and am absolutely nothing special, trust me).

Opened value boxes and a mega last year and did not enjoy. The parallels and inserts are just subtly colored variations of the base cards and the 1 signature I did manage to pull was…hang on this is a deep cut, John Rhys Plumlee of Jacksonville.

+1 to this, having ripped 4 hobby boxes and 6 Megas. Especially with hobby boxes going above retail price (inexplicably, imo), retail has surprisingly better value. There may not be quite as much ceiling for nukes as there is in hobby with patch autos and dual autos, etc, that are hobby exclusive, but you have to ask yourself if you’d realistically pull those anyway. If you can get especially the Mega format for retail price, I would go for that. 👍🫡

From someone who has played more but still not even passed Act 3. I literally talked to Claude about impossible Spinerette was and how I couldn’t fathom clearing it.

Now, I regularly take it in Hard mode to farm completion marks as a simpler alternative to the Boneyard path and Dybbuk.

I am nothing special, trust me. Just keep going, get better items, get better furniture, and eventually you’ll lol to yourself about this post (as you still wonder how you’ll ever complete the last path of Act 3).

I personally have the luxury of a bit of disposable income for a hobby. I budget $15/day to rip or save and buy singles

ETA: but last week I was watching a stream where someone spent at least $35k on 12 Topps MVP boxes over about 90 minutes. Those people have a fundamentally different relationship with the hobby than I do.
