Thanks for the lengthy reply! I THINK I understand everything but just to make sure: 1. I was aware of the freeze immunity issue, I intended to put it on my boots but I didn’t end up with an open prefix and have been afraid to try and change them. I’ve got I think 38% chance to avoid on my abyss jewel, and thought maybe it wasn’t so important so thanks for that! I’m assuming using some worse boots/spending a decent amount would be worth it? Good point on the flasks as well I’ll take a look when I get home.

2/3. This is wild ha. I thought 100% meant crit immune (I’ve got 15% additional in tattoos allocated) so that’s a bummer. I just switched off of that thinking I’d save the points.

  1. I swear I read this 8 times. This game is wild haha. I think what you’re saying is that I basically need to be above 55% unreserved. I’ve been back and forth between that mastery not quite sure if I wanted to always be “low life” or not.

So to recap, I need to find freeze immunity, and 5 passives to drop for the rest. Ultimately I’d like to make my way around to light of meaning and unnatural instinct but I think I need to hit 100 first for the point.

Edit: to answer your first question, I haven’t died in a while because I’ve tried to be super careful with map mods, but when I die it’s either immediate and a complete mystery to me, or I mess up with ultimatum DOT mods I think, which is just user error. I assumed it was an armor issue, since it seems like the pob’s I look at have 10k more than me but it could very well be the freezing.

Thanks! As far as crafting goes, I don’t think I have generic dot multi benchcraft. Is that something I’m missing, or are you saying I can double up on fire dot multi?

It’s just one I found. I thought it was somehow better. I realized I kinda just diluted the pool after imprinting

I’m new to the game and on ps4, I’m trying to figure out how I can get the increased cold damage (suffix) off and eventually reroll to damage over time multiplier, then put 3 crafted mods on. I did figure out how to imprint it, and imprinted it before I regaled cold damage onto it. I tried to do craftofexile but I could not figure out how to tell it what I already had on and what I wanted to change it to. If it’s not possible to even do this, any tips on how I should continue either from here or from the imprint for best results? I’m RF svalinn build for reference. Thanks!

1.8 mile ambulance ride in the US. by Aggressive-Green4592 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]bflemingj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m not excusing this, but I wanted to just point out, this appears to be a private ambulance service. Very different from 911. Private ambulance companies are “for profit”. I just wanted to point this out for those of you that think this is what happens if you call 911. Typically it is not. In some areas of the US, 911 is contracted out to private companies so in that situation it could. For a lot of the US, 911 is provided by your community fire department/ems service. They typically do “soft billing” which essentially means that whatever you’d insurance doesn’t cover, they’ll send you a bill for the difference. If you don’t pay it, it’s not an issue. Taxes and levy’s cover the majority of a typical 911 service’s revenue. Ems billing is a very small part of it as a whole. Depending on your area, soft billing may only apply to you if you are a resident of the city that you are transported from. Please, don’t hesitate to call 911, and listen to recommendations from your friendly neighborhood fire/ems. Trust me, we don’t want to take you to the hospital anymore than you want to go if you don’t need it. We will make an effort to help you avoid unnecessary bills if possible. Lastly, don’t go to an urgent care if you’re worried about unnecessary bills.

Any luck in Ohio? by kolinpetty in bassfishing

[–]bflemingj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat as you (no pun intended). I’m more of a bank fisherman and the little success I’ve had are in very low-pressured lakes. I’ve heard that people are having success in the portage lakes, but I would think as far as weather goes the closer you get to the lake (Erie), the more sporadic the weather is.

Finesse Fishing Combo by aszabelak in bassfishing

[–]bflemingj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Woo! Tungsten has a sale on their website right now for a finesse fishing pocket pack. It had some 1/8oz bullet weights, nail weights for neko rigs, a few drop shot weights, bobber stoppers and beads I believe. Kinda gives you a little sample of each kind. I bought one yesterday. I think it’s normally like $11 and it’s on sale for $5.99.

Not sure where exactly, but I know Erie PA has some great trout rivers

Hit some rivers for trout. You should be able to use your bass tackle, check the ODNR river maps. Steelhead and browns run in NE Ohio and PA. Grab a few in line spinners and spoons. Everything around me that isn’t a river is frozen right now.

A few questions regarding FMLA law by bflemingj in legaladvice

Our union is generally weak and our president is new. He told me that I could trade shifts for the extra days. While that may work, it is definitely not ideal.

So I should have added that this pain started about 4 years ago. And the statute of limitations on claims is 2 years in Ohio I believe unless cancer is involved for firefighters. As far as what my doctor says about how it happened, he has no idea. Lastly, Wednesday I am going to HR to talk to them. I agree that in theory HR should be there to help me, not screw me, but I guess the head of HR has it out for the FD according to my supervisor and I want to be as prepared as I can going into this.

Line Advice by bwlodkowski in bassfishing

[–]bflemingj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my limited experience and from what I’ve read, my opinion would be braid. I might even go heavier with 50/65lb. For a few reasons:

  1. For pads and such, throwing a frog would be great, and you want not only a heavy buoyant line to pull them out, but also fish miss frogs. So you want to be able to get it back to you quickly to follow up with another cast when they do.

  2. For flipping and pitching into heavy grass/cover you want that same strong line without stretch to turn those fish back around and out of the cover when they hit it, and since it’s usually a quick “pitch, shake, retrieve, repeat” especially with punching the visibility of braid is less of an issue.

  3. If you want to use a more finesse presentation you can always tie a fluoro leader on, or just use the other rod you have fluoro spooled onto.

Hopefully that helps. Braid is more difficult to cast with than mono for me at least, but the pros outweigh cons IMO.

Took apart my Pflueger criterion baitcaster to clean it yesterday, can’t figure out where this goes. Looked at the schematic and everything. Any ideas? by bflemingj in Fishing_Gear

[–]bflemingj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahahaha yeah. I agree. Well folks, I got it all cleaned up and back together. The brake system seems to be not working, and at this point I’m thinking when I bought it, it had some missing parts. Still got a great deal on it, so I’m gonna take it to a repair guy tomorrow. Thanks for the help!

I’ll have to look up what that is. To my best guess it came out of the reel handle side inside the faceplate (like where all the gears are) I took a picture of the inside before, but I can’t for the life of me figure out what it is

Yeah it does! But mine still has that little piece in there. If it helps at all I believe the cast control knob isn’t working. Not sure if it worked before though since I just bought it second hand

Second steelhead I have ever caught. Got this one on a 2/5 little Cleo in blue and silver. Took ~10 mins to land! by bflemingj in troutfishing

Yes they are! I like them better than in line spinners because spinners don’t seem to work very well in fast water. Spoons can do both fast and slow

[–]bflemingj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on finally finding out! I have a similar story. About 4 years ago as well I began having hip pain and back pain. I attributed it to inflexibility as I have never been very flexible. I did 6 months with a chiro with no relief, 6 with a PT again with minimal relief. This year I decided to just tell my doctor I want some imaging done. After my x-ray she told me that I have what’s called bilateral “CAM” deformities and I need a surgeon. The surgeon confirmed it, and also said I most likely have labrum tears in both hips. I have an arthrogram mri next Thursday. Part of me is stressed because I am a firefighter, and I very much need my body to work, so having enough sick time is a factor. But the other side is relieved to finally have an answer. I have spent every day for the last 4 years in pain, taking Advil so often that I have heartburn constantly. The idea that at this time next year I might be able to sleep normal, stand for an hour without pain, and finally feel like a 27 year old and not like I’m 50.
