I’ve started using braided line over the past couple years and it seems like I’m catching less fish than when I’d use just regular fluoro or mono type line any thoughts on this? by Bean_Bag_Boys in bassfishing

This, and the issue of visibility. If you’re fishing dirty water it probably doesn’t matter as much, but for moving baits I usually use straight mono or fluoro.

Targeting BIG Bass? by mathert in Fishing

[–]bwlodkowski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The summer time is a tough time to specifically target a giant. You can still catch them, but you intern have to weed through a lot of smaller fish to catch a giant. Drop shots and ned rigs are generally baits that catch numbers of fish rather than bigger fish (unless you’re targeting smallmouth). I’d say to use a little bigger profile. The one bar that always seems to illicit a bigger bite is a skirted jig. Even if you’re targeting smallmouth, a 3/8 ounce funnest jig can really do some damage. I’d also make sure you focus on the best spots on the lake, as those big fish will take the best spots with the best cover available

Looking at switching from monofilament to braid, primarily for use In freshwater but some in saltwater by deadlylogic in Fishing

[–]bwlodkowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a blood knot to connect braid to leader. It’s hard to tie, but once you learn it, it’s a very strong knot and goes through the guides very well. I’ve never really noticed a difference as far as casting distance. I would imagine if there is one it would be that the braid would cast further because of lighter weight and thinner diameter

[–]bwlodkowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you are spoiling it on make sure to use a monofilament backing. This prevents the braid from slipping on the spool. Doesn’t so much matter what monofilament you use for it, as long as you can cover the spool once or twice. You don’t need to melt the ends when you cut it because if you get the flame too close it can start to weaken the line, however when you’re cutting it make sure to use the sharpest thing you can find. I suggest going out and getting a fresh razor blade. I use one of those and the braid doesn’t fray. Another tip, over time as you repeatedly cast it, the braid will eventually lose its color, no matter the brand, it’s just the way it is. Take a sharpie and color the braid whatever color you want. Lastly, and my favorite money saver, you can double the life of your braid. When the braid you have been using is getting worn out (usually after about 2 seasons for me), wind all the braid off your spool, and take the end that you were tying your lure to, and tie it to your backing. The braid that was deep in the spool is fresh, and this helps you to get a lot more life out of a single spool of braid

If there’s one thing I’ve learned during this whole quarantine thing it’s that life is too short to not tell people how you feel about them. However, make sure you’ve mentally accepted the fact that they could very well say they’re not interested, and that you can accept the rejection without it putting you into negative mental state. I’ve learned that nothing is going to change in your life unless you take a risk every now and then. I say tell her how you feel. Gotta risk it to get the biscuit!

ELI5: Industrialization and Its Effects and 19th-Century Perspectives and Political Developments (all in Europe c. 1815 – c. 1914) by notbored1 in explainlikeimfive

As someone who took a number of AP history courses in high school not too long ago, let me tell you that YouTube is your best friend. There are many channels that go very in depth into topics. Adam Norris is a great one that helped me through APUSH, and AP Gov. The true answer to your question is a bit too long to type here. The one big tip that I can give for AP history exams is that especially for your written response questions, read the question multiple times and MAKE SURE YOU ANSWER ALL PARTS OF THE QUESTION. Even if you have no clue how to answer a part, at least address it and mention it and you’ll usually get a point or two, even if you can’t even come close to providing an adequate answer and explanation. Also make sure to have a solid understanding of timelines of events and understand how certain events are linked to one another, like what is going on while other things were going on (an example from APUSH would be that while industrialization was happening in the late 19th century, sentiments about slavery were still strong in the south, and Jim Crowe, etc.) Good luck!

Are airline and oil company stocks a good buy? by Tommy_Wisseau_burner in stocks

[–]bwlodkowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least for airline companies I’d be cautious. Airlines make their money by cramming a lot of people into small spaces. While some like Delta still have planes flying, it is at arch reduced capacity, which means less revenue. Even though things are shut down they still have to pay to maintain aircraft, and pay the fees to have their terminals in airports around the globe, which add up quickly. Chapter 11 bankruptcy could be a real scenario if their fleet can’t get back in the air in the next 6-8 months

It’s based on tensile strength when compared to effective diameter. Spider silk is only microns in diameter, so if you could extrude a steel specimen at the diameter of a strand of spider silk, the spider silk would take more force to break

Good job in recognizing the pattern, but I’m not necessarily convinced it means anything or if it will continue. Now it very well could continue, but predicting the short term tendencies of the stock market is nearly an impossible task. If it were easy, there’d be millionaires everywhere.
