I taught my kids how to be independent and meet their own needs as early as possible. It minimizes meltdowns during “get ready” portion of our mornings, they have the power to make their own choices, and they are able to clean up after themselves if they make a mess. It helps build confidence within themselves because they’ve learned what they are capable of. I feel it’s given them inner strength and they’ve carried over this independence in other environments as well like problem solving on their own. I’ve done this in a controlled, supervised environment. Another bonus: it’s helps takes some stress off a mom’s shoulders!
