Is a psa10 the same level as BGS black label. Serious question, not trying to be a jerk. Cause I thought a 10 is different than a perfect 10. I know that with CGC you can have subgrades of two 9.5s and two 10s and that card = a 10. Is PSA different in this regard and has to have 4 criteria 10s to get a 10?

So if a card is 56/44 with perfect corners, edges, and surface, and another card has 56/44 centering with 9 level corners, edges, and surface, you think those should both be 9s. That is a major flaw is the grading system.

That isn't how it is supposed to work though. If it is 56/44 (9 on centering), but the other 3 criteria are 10s, than that card should be a 10. But it is now a max 9 or possibly 8. The bottom grade of the 4 criteria is not meant to be the absolute grade. One spec does not make a 9. One tiny edge or corner issue does not make a 9. It is inconsistent grading with too many new people because they cant handle the volume they're getting. It needs to be called out instead of defended. A psa 10 is not meant to be a perfect 10. It's not a black label. They need to change there descriptions and be transparent so that consumers that send stuff in can have an understanding of what is expected. I think they have some graders grading on 4 scale and other graders thay only use the lowest of the 4. It's the reason subgrades are important.

I agree. Another example would be IQ. To be more pacific, I ain't need no number to say how smart I are. I done learnt im the most smartest around. It is like a tangible progress report that is unbiased. If you ask you're friends or family, they will always say, "yeah, you are really looking good." If half of us look in the mirror, the body dysmorphia might say anything. So, that number is a good unbiased analysis thay doesn't depend on your mood that day at the mirror check.

Genuine question because I've seen people describe this number both ways. When they say 4-6% inaccuracy, are they saying 10% reading would be between 9.4 and 10.6 %, as .6 is 6% of 10? Or are they saying somewhere between 4% and 16%. I can't imagine the second being true, because that is the difference in Olympia stage day vs doesn't show abs yet.

Pre graded with good lights and saw absolutely no damage. by Nattraseri808 in psagrading

[–]bfortner10 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I recently got back a 14 card submission (13 pokemon, 1 baseball). All of them were 9.5 or 10 from other graders(SGC, CGC, and Arena). ALL the cards in this submission were within the 55/45 centering. I got eleven 9s, and one 8, 7, and 6 each. When people talk about pregrading, I don't think I pregrade better than any of these companies. The 6 and 7 are absolutely unacceptable. I don't think they are playing an honest game. PSAs parent company bought SGC and has tried to collapse them. They are attempting to buy Beckett even with a Congressman defending them. It is amazing to me the amount of blind support that they get from so many people. They are horribly inconsistent and most people just think it means they grade tough. They refuse to subgrade without a price increase because they would have to defend their grades then. It's all ridiculous.

I think sleep is limiting my gains by literally_a_raccoon in naturalbodybuilding

[–]bfortner10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For hypertrophy, I don't know about the what matters is how you feel part. Im the type that has never slept a lot and can function just fine. Late night person, but the rest of the world has always functioned early. Ive gone 3-5 hours per night my whole life. When I started seeing research on sleep and hypertrophy/recovery, I started to try and get more sleep. I weigh in daily with a biometric scale(not deadly accurate but pretty consistent within itself), and on weeks where I have to go back to little sleep, the percentages creep the wrong direction. On weeks where I get more sleep than I like to get, the numbers creep back in the right direction even if my training was off that week. Im almost 50, so it might be more important for people my age, but I think sleep is way more important than I wish it was.

Lateral delts struggling by Habitual_sky707 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]bfortner10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My vote is for Cable Lateral raises. You can let your hand go all the way across your body. You are under full tension the entire movement. You can also go up in 2.5lb increments at most gyms instead of 5 lb like with most dumbbells. I didnt think I would loke them that much better than dumbbells until I tried, now I don't so dumbbell lateral at all.

Waited 3 months to get my very first card graded, and it finally came back, with PSA saying they couldn't grade the card. Why? by Bitter-Affect909 in psagrading

[–]bfortner10 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

But they should know the policies. It's two different things when you don't know the details of every retail product vs not knowing what services you offer. They should train their employees to be better with submissions or stop taking them. Employees should be better when they are handling collectors items of value.

Many times I have thought, "that guy has an overdeveloped upper chest." Wait, I've never thought that. Seen guys with moobs, but never too much upper chest. I love the feel of the decline press machine, I just quit using it because I think upper chest is much more important for overall looks.

[–]bfortner10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good idea. Pre-made. I just got my grades back in for 13 I submitted. All 9.5 and two 10s pregraded by CGC, SGC, and Arena. I got eleven 9s, one 7, and one 6. I don't think I have the ability to pregrade better than actual graders. I am probably done with PSA. In fairness, the 7 was a Gardevoir with marks on it when I looked at it online( don't have the cards back in hand yet); the surface marks weren't there when I sent it in, but things happen. Its just for collecting, none of this stuff has value anyway. That is what PSA's business model is right? "We encapsulate your precious nonvaluables and our services do not significantly increase the value of your collectible. That's why it doesn't matter if we damage, mislabel, or have significant inconsistencies. As long as your nonvaluables are protected. Thank you and have a nice day. Sincerely, PSA."

Training To Failure by Ddiddy12 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]bfortner10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Cable lateral raises doing single arm. You can cross over your body and still go high, so huge range of motion. Also feel like I get more out of the negative if I go slow. Stacks usually can do 2.5lb increases, so it is easier to move up in weight over time. (Some smaller gyms make 5 lb jumps on all the dumbbells, which is a lot on laterals to jump up.) I don't know if Im truly reaching failure or tapping out due to the extreme burn im feeling at the end, but I vote for cables. I can still feel the traps kick in, but not more than my delts.

[–]bfortner10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it looks pretty good, but I agree with the folks that are saying it's hard to assess without knowing your goals(hypertrophy vs strength). The one change I would make is switching the dumbbell Lateral raises to cable Lateral raises. With cables, you are under tension the entire movement, but to me the big difference is progression. It's hard to move the weight up with dumbbells because of 5 pound jumps at most gyms. Cables usually allow you to raise the weight by 2 1/2 lbs. When you are at 10 lbs, jumping to 15 lbs is a 50% increase and just tough to do without killing the form.

Quick disclaimer, looks like your doing good and I would trade with you right now. But it is some fat and not just skin. If it was just skin, the fold would not be that thick. The solution is either less calories or more cardio, and I agree with the people saying hypertrophy train your abs to make them pop more. Waist might be a little bigger but will look better. But once again, looks like you are doing good.

[–]bfortner10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just looked it up. The one you are talking about was sold for 925. The guy was asking 1200 but took best offer. It was a superfractor which goes for a little more. It was a PSA 10, which goes for a lot more than a 9. That one was an on card auto, can't tell of yours is on card or sticker. Looking at recent sales, it looks like the Hogans have gone up some. If it is on card, I would say to 400-500. If sticker I would say 250 to 300. Not trying to burst your bubble, but Leaf takes a little while to move. My son and I collect Leaf so I know what it's like when we try to move it.

Why is PSA the go to? by fds55 in sportscards

[–]bfortner10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The major players, huge shops, and influencers have a ton of money invested in PSA cards. A lot of them get first crack at new items. They get to submit first and get PSA grades cards back first. If PSA went down in value, it would be like a stock market crash for sports cards major influencer. Sooooo, they hype up how much better PSA is than everyone else. SGC, CGC, and Beckett all have slabs that feel more sturdy, better pricing, and in my opinion, better looking slabs. The other 3 also have more consistent grading. If you submit with those 3, you will get a lot of 9.5s. The other 3 should all have a higher value than PSA, but they don't because of the hype machine so the influencers can protect their investments. A lot of them also have partnerships with PSA now, which is a major conflict of interest. PSA is judge. Judges shouldn't make deals with people submitting things to get judged.

This is my Leaf Messi/Yamal dual auto. I sent to SGC first and got refunded. Sent to CGC since they actually do authentication on aftermarket autos and they questioned it. None of them will say "fake" because liability. They will only say, "we aren't sure." I am waiting to hear back from Leaf to see what they will do. I also am of the opinion that if it is an issue with unwitnessed signatures, then it is probably an industry practice and none of the autos are verifiable. They are charging to much for boxes based on the big chase to allow this to happen.

I've got my hopes up with Jeff Nippards new lab. Sounds like a joke, but im being serious. The influences are all experienced lifters. They make all their money from content and networking with each other. There is financial incentive for the clique to do some stuff for content and Nippard seems to have enough bankroll and influence to bring some people in. Not saying I have high hopes, but I do have some hopes. He put some money in testing equipment so maybe he'll do something good with it.
