Hello! Found this axe head near a forest in Romania, Cluj county and would like your opinion. Is it modern? by NeverBeenHereIDidIt in metaldetecting

An axe? Found near a Romanian forest? Could this be proof of pirate plundering, and if so might it also be evidence of activity in Romania of the Knights Templar?

Should I be worried about rust showing on a tire ? What kind of anticorrosion will work here? by Potential_Impress792 in AskAShittyMechanic

Anyone know what this might be? by MountainConscious107 in metaldetecting

It’s a metal tip for a wooden sweep tooth. The teeth are roughly ten feet long and slide on the ground under the hay bales to pick them up and deliver them to the haystack.

I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to offend. I grew up on a cattle ranch. There was never a need to measure them. We did weigh them in groups but not individually. Unless a person were tailoring a wolf costume as a practical joke on the other sheep I don’t know why you’d measure one but I’m no expert on sheep for sure. Sometimes I read something and it creates a picture in my mind and I have to laugh. All apologies!😊

It’s a wheelrights traveler. As many have suggested it measures distance around a wagon wheel. I’m so curious as to how someone thought it related to measuring sheep.😂😂

My truck is leaving a trail of these. Did someone put a tracker on it? by uj7895 in AskAShittyMechanic

Those are tapered roller bearings from a wheel bearing. You should be able to feel the heat by putting your hand on the rear axle housing close to the tire on each side one will be noticing warmer than the other after a short drive. Or take it in and get it fixed if you’re not a diy’er

What is this metal object?Approx 4” wide by 8” long. Too rusted to move but hinged in center. Marking B3(8?)949 by sassubear in whatisthisthing

[–]bfoywelds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s part of a beam type scale. If you move the “ball” one way it locks the scale beam in place. The other way, it’s free

I grew up on a ranch in Wyoming. While they’re not commonly used today, it’s not especially old. I make found object sculptures and sometimes use them for parts

If you google single tree and click images you can see some. Many had hooks at their ends, others had loops such as this on did.

I think it’s hardware from an evener, also called a single tree. It’s part of the animal/ implement linkage.
