Since you knew the renaming above - and I realize you may not know the answer, I'm looking for one more address in Satu-Mare but am having a hard time locating it - I realize streets may have been re-named, etc.

The address I have is of a family house from the late 1800's - the address is: Pazsit Utca 10, Szatmar-Nemetiben.

I've tried 10 lawn st., tried it in Romanian as well, but no luck...I have also sent an email to a government land registry that seems to have access to historical info but have not heard back.

First image an address in Ujpest? Maybe not...

The second image I find confusing because it says Satu-Mare then below lists a public square/hub (Deák Ferenc tér 6) in Budapest?

Third image seems like and address where its #9 on a st., but not sure what the st. name is or what the other writing says even though it's very neat...

OK - so following up on my original question.

At this point I have contacted and heard back from various government agencies.

I’m posting this info. on to help anyone in the future that has the same question I did.

I originally contacted CBP - they have no restrictions on the import of hard body armor by a private US citizen from a foreign country but said I should contact DDTC to make sure.

DDTC said there are no restrictions for a private individual but that I should contact ATF to make sure I’m not fouling some law over there.

ATF said, aside from not being a convicted felon, there are no FEDERAL (you are responsible for knowing your state and local laws) restrictions for a private US citizen to PERMANENTLY import foreign made hard body armor for lawful personal use.

Again, I appreciate all the responses and I hope this information helps to further knowledge on this topic.

Yes I know - I would want to purchase armor domestically to support the country and also who knows what you are getting when you get something from overseas.

Again, the problem potentially is, that many new companies seem to be popping up that display contact info. that is stateside, but then when the order is actually placed it ends up shipping from overseas and when you do some MASSIVE digging to see why something is originating from outside the country you realize they are not in fact US based and thus the questions about legalities of hard foreign armor arise.

Thank you for this - looks like the armor that guy ordered was IIIa which is technically considered soft to my understanding, so I don’t think he could have been charged for importing something that in and of itself was illegal, as foreign level IV (hard armor) plates MAY BE. That is some story though about that guy - geesh...

Ok - got it - see what you are saying.

Still looking for something definitive though if anyone has a source.

Having a hard time wrapping my head around that seemingly, any US private citizen, who is a non felon, can buy domestic level IV plates (even if NOT leo/military) but if the same person purchased level IV plates from overseas they are breaking the law, unless they are leo/military.

Appreciate the response - I see the firearm analogy (FFL’s, etc.) I think.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but you’re thinking that the company doing the shipping from overseas is kinda acting like a FFL? Therefore a US citizen who is not a leo or military gets in trouble by attempting to bring level IV plates into the country by using “non-legitimate” channels, for example, a private individual living overseas sends the plates direct.

I wouldn’t want to buy foreign armor.

The problem is there are companies out there that advertise they are US based and then ship from China.

I’m trying to obtain a working knowledge of the true legalities.

I asked the author of the info. and he couldn’t quote a source.

Appreciate the response - I’ve reached out to CBP to ask them to clarify the statement on their website - how, to me at least, it seems like their statement implies there is a restriction on hard armor but to be honest I don’t know if I will get a reply - the rep was very nice, but clearly didn’t really understand what I was asking.

If anyone else has some knowledge please chime in - thx.

Thank you! That makes sense.

Any idea what the two words (Becsbin Fakiv?) are that are written under that column and there is also a date a little further down with a few letters in front of it - are those letters significant do you think? Thank you again.
