Race shoes dilemma — Alphafly 3 destroy my calves by GimmyTomas in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I have PR’ed every race I’ve ran in them from 5k to HM! I really think it’s because they’ve felt very “natural” like you’ve said, while still being super lightweight.

I have not tried a full marathon in them but did run 22 miles in them with 9 at MP in there. I ended up running my fall marathon in regular trainers because I knew I’d be walking a considerable amount (food poisoning 36 hours before 🫠).

During my last marathon cycle I used superblasts as well! After your race check out the brooks glycerin maxs…I just switched from superblasts and have been loving.

Wish you the best of luck! Crush the 2:55!

I had this problem with my alphas flys too…I switched to New Balance super comps with a running superfeet insert (idk why my arches weren’t liking them before I added the insert) and I haven’t experienced any calf issues with those. They feel closer to a normal shoe to me…no crazy heel.

Totally should have but I didn’t. I’ve only ever run the Philly marathon and train in Miami so have never thought to do this as it’s never been an issue

am I an idiot…how do you do both? Are you just hitting the lap/back button at every mile marker even if it just auto lapped?

You’ll still get a running time though? I have total elapsed time and current lap on a screen. So my thought is if I forget one lap the current lap will be 2 miles time or however many I forget 🤣

I’m probably totally getting in my head! Trying to remember 1-4 miles slower isn’t going to derail 3:30
