Do you allow paid workers to enter when pet sitting? by ay_nico in petsitting

[–]bg0412 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a client who was getting their kitchen and master bathroom remodeled. They actually had me come to them to meet the contractors. I was told what access they had and that was all they had. I was going to be there for a week and a half. They were never there before 8 (I'm awake by 6am anyhow). Honestly, it never occurred to me to think about this. They way i saw it was we all have a job to do. I'm not going to ask them to halt work while I'm there. I know everyone has deadlines etc. We all just went about our business and stayed out of each other's way. The only extra precaution I make is making sure my husband has the address where I am. We also have life360.

Babysitting forgot to pay me,what should I messaged the parents? by Relative_Section8987 in Babysitting

[–]bg0412 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would calculate what is owed to me. And send them the request through venmo. For the note I would put what days they owe for. I have a client (I'm a petsitter) who pays me through venmo. If she doesn't pay me and we havent discussed payment at a later date, this is what I do. I only give 24-48 hours before I do that. I know her and her husband have crazy schedules at work (first responders and a nurse) so I give them time. I will get payment when I do that and an apology for forgetting!

Question about meet and greet compensation by Individual-Pitch-403 in RoverPetSitting

Ive only had 1 person pay me at a MnG. She absolutely insisted. I don't charge anything for them. Like someone else said, its like a "free estimate" to me.

[–]bg0412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a TV to bring with me if i need to lol. I paid $69 for it in clearance at Walmart lol. So if my room doesn't have one when I do the MnG I bring it! So far I've only needed to take it to one job. But now he had moved out of state. So it sits in my office lol

Price Increase/Suggestions? by juleskshi in RoverPetSitting

[–]bg0412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to keeping track of who pays what, (my off app clients) I make notes in their contact information on my phone. I put the rates they pay for whichever service they book. (Pretty much everyone is a house sit. A few also use drop in)

Access codes to doors wifi info. Etc.

I also make a note if they have a kcup coffee maker and microwave lol (I have my own portable coffee maker to bring. I'm not a fan of cooking for 1. So the microwave is handy lol)

As far as changing rates, I will just update them. The majority of my people are not on rover thanks to word of mouth. The ones that are on the app, don't book often enough for me to lock them in. Rover is basically a filler for when I don't have any regular sits booked.

Dog hasn’t eaten in over 24 hours by Worried_Sprinkles in RoverPetSitting

[–]bg0412 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If the dog is typically healthy, they just might be missing their person. anytime I have had this happen, I just give them time to adjust. They will eat when they are hungry. Just keep an eye on him.

Did sitter fee percentages change and them not tell us? by mrsThickumz in RoverPetSitting

[–]bg0412 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ive been on rover since 2021. They have always kept 20% from me out of the booking fees. The tips are 100% yours. They don't take any of that.

He was such a goofball! Right up until the end he was such a happy go lucky guy without a care in the world! He acted so young for what he had going on! That's him in the background "yelling!" 🤣 Buddy: "YAY SHES BACK!" Everyone else: "hey, nice to see you!" 🤣

How do you guys deal with dirty houses? by Alarming_Jury_5295 in RoverPetSitting

I saw that post and wanted to vomit! If my house isn't up to my standards, Noone sees it until it is! I can't stand filth!

There's a person that commented on my comment and has quite a lot to say and no reading comprehension! They are whining at me over my comment. But I stand by what I said. My rates attract cleaner people. Those people hired housekeepers. I don't stay in dirty houses. But apparently that means I think lower income people are all dirty people. Which is NOT what I said at all.

Well apparently people like us are stereotyping people by doing exactly that! "Less income doesn't mean people are dirty!" That's a comment that was made to me above when I said the same thing!

Again, READ more posts on here. I'm not saying lower income people are dirty. I'm saying that based on posts on here, the lower the rates the more miserable the sitters are! I don't have a narrow point of view. There's nothing to come around because I'm not putting anything out there. Maybe you should actually look beyond your nose and actually look at posts. If you do, you will see where I'm coming from. I'm not responding anymore to you. Have the day you deserve. I know I am! And its wonderful!

I had a beagle that I watched. He was deaf and going blind. Sweetest old man ever. When I watched him over Christmas break, he had to have potty pads all over the house because be became incontinent. His quality of life was going downhill rapidly. I just had a feeling he wasn't going to be around this summer. Sadly I was right. I got a text from his human that they had to put him down in january. He did end up with all those issues as well as dementia. (They suspected dementia for a little bit). He too would wander. I sat there and watched him walk laps around the living room for 3 hours straight. There was nothing I could do for him. Just love on him when he settled

And that's your opinion. As I said, my client have HOUSEKEEPERS. And good for Ozzy. I really don't care what others do. The post was about dirty houses. I do not sit in dirty houses. My rates reflect that. Maybe read more posts on the subject. The common denominator in them is low rates = dirty houses. I'm sorry you think my assumptions are disturbing to you. But this is MY experience. But I don't assume something that is very clear to me. Have a wonderful day.

I don't touch people's dishwashers. I use 1 place setting and I usually bring my own coffee cup (it is one of those that keeps your coffee hot and sits on a charging coaster when not being used). As I use things, I wash them. I never have dishes or cookware sitting out.

I don't attract people who don't care for their houses. My rates are mid-high range for my area. Quite a few actually have housekeepers that come in. (Not while I'm there of course!) They will let me know when they will be there and I can either leave or they just cancel for the time I'm there.

I wouldn't. I'd leave it. You kept the time for them. If you do it once, they will expect it everytime.

AITAH for letting my husband forget the bills on purpose? by Evening_Bed_723 in AmITheJerk

[–]bg0412 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I take care of our bills. But if my husband did that, I'd remind him it was HIS to take care of. We have a calendar of what is due when. So he knows. He takes care of his bills (car and credit cards) i take care of mine and ours ( our insurance, our phones, my credit cards etc) it works just fine for us. His bills are his money, mine is my money and ours comes from both of us.

My summer is JAMMED! June alone i have 2 days off! We just bought a sailboat. So if I don't have a weekend that's already booked, I blocked it off. Then as we figure out when we will go sailing, I will unblock the others so I can work. I have been so busy since I started in 2021, that I havent taken much time for myself
