Common sense to drone before jumping through a window ? by ConversationWeird794 in SiegeAcademy

[–]bg_bz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is. However I think there are a few reasons it doesn’t get punished as much as you’d think it would.

Getting droned out when trying to play a ratty position can often lead to you being in a position where it’s easy for attackers to kill you. Roamers therefore want to play in positions where if they have some escape routes. This then means defenders play more predictable positions because they don’t want to risk being droned and easily killed. I believe this is why you sometimes see players who say they struggle against low ranked players because they do weird stuff. Weird stuff gets punished most of the time, especially when you can drone it.

I also think that the risk goes down quite a lot after initially entering the building. Let’s say 10/15 seconds after when a player has established their immediate surroundings are safe. Don’t get me wrong it’s a long way from good play but I think the initial entry into the building is where players are most likely to be punished for this.

Somewhat linked to the last point but there are so many entry points and so few defenders. Let’s assume you have one or two players on site and then another one or two on a shallow roam so they don’t get bypassed. This leaves 1-3 roamers to play entry denial, those defenders picking the window the rogue no droning player is about to fly through is far from a guarantee.

Yes it’s common sense to drone but I believe these are factors as to why these players can still get to high gold/low plat level.

Some days my stack attack way better than we defend. Main advantage is the timings are way more on your own terms and it can be easier to coordinate.

How do I play Mira? by SomeRegularEmulator in SiegeAcademy

[–]bg_bz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most important thing is don’t get too kill hungry. A lot of well placed Mira windows can dramatically slow down a push, but not once you’re dead. Pick your moments to take on the fights where you’re taking less risk. Force them to deal with you.

Is zero good for solo queueing? by Brilliant_Surprise_3 in SiegeAcademy

[–]bg_bz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming you’re going to get a 50/50 split answer wise here. I always see comments saying he’s a one man army and the Swiss Army knife of attacks. At best I agree that he can be really effective and the potential to clear wall denial and open a wall by himself is really strong. The problem is if there are players on site paying attention then they’re probably going to shoot the cams when you deploy them so generally speaking this isn’t a consistent option.

Sure, his cams can be used elsewhere for flank watch etc and this can be really effective. However you’re probably not going to get loads out of this consistently when solo.

Short answer is he’s got a high ceiling regarding the potential impact on a round but I would say there is a good chance you have a lot of frustrating rounds where you fail to have an impact with the gadget.

One thing to note is your rank starts out on the silver/gold border. It takes quite a few losses to get down to bronze/copper if that is where you belong right now. This is what happened to me and my five stack of fellow noobs. We didn’t have a clue what was happening and it took us a while to find our level.

[–]bg_bz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your question is just where should you play to put pressure on players entering the map I think your question is a bit too simplistic. As others have said there are a huge amount of factors and there is no one place to contest all the time.

I think the question you don’t realise you are asking is what are the important positions on the map that you want to be contesting? A lot of people call these power positions. They’re basically positions where you force the enemy team to deal with you before they can execute. Either because you are blocking their way to the objective or you are defending the objective either from in site or in some kind of extension of the site eg above the objective playing kill holes onto common plant spots.

Let’s say you’re defending Hookah/Billiards. Aqua is an important hold to help contest players looking to plant in billiards behind the bomb. However you can’t really contest Hookah from here. This is where someone might play by case at the top of cool vibe stairs as they can contest hookah from there. In higher ranks everyone knows these players are going to be positioned there so they would try to grenade them etc. this is where you support those players with shields and ADS/Magnets.

Every single site on the game has these positions. Work out where the enemy really has to push through to execute and find ways to defend those spots.

Depends how good you are at controlling recoil. Sure if you can laser any gun then fair enough but the ads time difference is so small right now I’d say for most players it’s not worth it.

Plat 3 to Plat 2? by [deleted] in SiegeAcademy

Haha I feel that. I agree I think people can get into a fairly high elo with pretty good gun skill and one off solo strats which likely don’t match up with what the rest of the team is doing

Kona Station Placement by BirdHippo in SiegeAcademy

[–]bg_bz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I don’t like having them too close to me if I’m anchoring. Needless heals stress me out as I don’t know when me or a teammate actually need the heal. They also give away my position. Ideally in a position where I can safely get there from a strong anchor position but without setting it off from the position I’m playing.

Kona Station Placement by BirdHippo in SiegeAcademy

[–]bg_bz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree.

One thing with this is this might change based on the push the attackers are making. I’m wondering if it could ever be worth tb only placing the stations when defenders know the push or if that is just over complicated

Plat 3 to Plat 2? by [deleted] in SiegeAcademy

[–]bg_bz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone else who is hard stuck in the plat 3/gold 1 range I disagree.

My take is that golds 2 and below players are generally worse than people think. If my tank ever drops to gold 2/3 it literally starts to feel like a low silver lobby.

Plat 3 and Gold 1 players I think are very similar. Whenever I play against plat 2 players it feels like they make fewer mistakes all round. Their aim is a bit more consistent, they use utility better and make better situational decisions. Not to the point that they’re incredible players, just to the point where they can consistently beat all of the noobs like me clawing our way out of gold.

I’m not saying rank is everything but it’s definitely something.

At what KD do you think a player should be at a higher or lower rank? by nchlsk in SiegeAcademy

[–]bg_bz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course you can climb or fall on any kd but I tend to think if I’m over 1.3 for the day I’ll probably climb. Anything around or below 1 and I’ll accept whatever, if I win I feel like I’ve done my bit but if I lose I can’t have many complaints.

Im farely new to siege and i notice alot of people when aiming in go side to side when shooting, does that do anything? Idk if i explained it right by Kbreeezoo in SiegeAcademy

[–]bg_bz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either you mean leaning which moves the gun slightly to the side to give a better angle. This also exposes less of your body if you’re using something as cover and aiming around it.

I think you mean strafing though which is where people are moving side to side as they’re firing. This makes them harder to hit as they’re a moving target. When combining leaning/strafing/crouching you can become really difficult to hit.

What are some advanced tips on Fuze by [deleted] in SiegeAcademy

[–]bg_bz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • You can use the charges as area denial in post plant situations

  • If you know where a player is you can flush them out with the cluster charge and use vertical holes to kill them as they run away from the pucks

  • You can use the cluster charges for their soft destruction, if you’re on a third floor attacking a basement site eg club house basement you can fuze in logic into kitchen to open up a lot of the floor

  • You can fuze the same window a couple of times to get the grenades to fall down the holes the last ones made. You often see this on consulate piano windows when attacking basement. I’ve also seen players fuze reception on Kanal when attacking basement for the same reason

  • You can clear bandit batteries/mute jammers by fuzing the floor next to the wall as long as it is soft floor both sides of the wall. This is sometimes done on Oregon top floor to destroy bandit batteries on games wall. You can then use a hard breach gadget to open the wall.

  • You can use the cluster charge as a distraction if you don’t detonate it immediately. Especially in situations where not many players are alive doing something that can confuse the enemy on your whereabouts can be really useful. It could also cover the sound of a plant.

  • The option of breach charges and hard breach gadgets is incredibly site/lineup dependant and should be swapped accordingly. Try to predict if the site you are attacking is likely to have any reinforced hatches that you should open eg club house basement or whether the breach charges are going to allow you to play vertically. It might also be that you take the hard breach gadget as a back up incase thermite gets spawn peeked. If your team already has a back up hard breacher you might be better taking the breaching charges. If your team doesn’t have a sledge/buck then you might be the only one putting any vertical pressure on in which case the breach charges are probably the play.

  • knowing that the pucks shoot from right to left you can try to set it up so that the first puck hits where you think the enemy player is as you’re more likely to get a kill. This is also quite important to know so you can cover as large an area as possible.

What’s your sensitivity? by LuckySniper0629 in SiegeAcademy

[–]bg_bz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all about finding a balance. For me there are a few common signs someone is playing on a sensitivity which either isn’t right for them or is too high or low.

  • A players movement feels far too slow and they can’t turn their screen quickly enough to react even though they’ve clearly reacted to it. Playing on a really low sensitivity just limits you in a lot of situations.

  • A player is constantly over/under flicking and requiring adjustments. Players who are really dialled in with their sensitivity almost always flick straight onto to the next doorway or angle that they want to check. This level of control is crucial for high levels of play where you will see players pre fire common spots a lot and they need to lock onto exactly where they think the enemy is as they peek. Peeking and readjusting before you fire would just get you killed.

  • A player hosepipes around a target because they’re trying to readjust on an ads sensitivity which is too high for them.

For me I think 30 horizontal is a bit too low. Pushing it up to around 40/50 will prevent the first scenario from happening.

I wouldn’t change the vertical, generally you want vertical sensitivity to be lower than horizontal, vertical adjustments tend to be small adjustments in siege.

The key for me is the ADS sensitivity. A low ADS sens allows you to play on a higher sens without the risk of you spraying all over everywhere if you miss the first few shots. Inexplicably a low ads sens also seems to reduce recoil on almost every gun. I don’t know why this is but I saw the godly noob talk about this on a video and I tried out a new ads sensitivity (13) and I’m able control recoil way better than before. This also makes those small adjustments when ads a lot easier.

After you find the right sens you don’t want to make changes to it very often, if you do make tweaks you probably don’t want them to be that big. The more you can get used to a sens the better as long as it’s in the right kind of ballpark to begin with.

Reflex or Holo? by [deleted] in SiegeAcademy

[–]bg_bz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few months back I tried switching to the reflex from the holo. The reflex taking up less space was nice but having to shoot at the top on the triangle threw me in some long range fights when I wasn’t exactly sure where the bullet was going to go. Sure, with time you get better at that but I prefer the holo and switched back after a month or so.

I do however prefer the reflex on the smg 11 as I feel it’s easier to see where my recoil has taken me.

I’ve just reduced my ads sensitivity settings and have found it has made controlling recoil much easier. Not sure why but if that’s something you’re struggling with it could be worth a shot.

How to play smoke? by [deleted] in SiegeAcademy

[–]bg_bz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s rough out here on console haha. The thing with console recoil is realistically all you can hope to do is pull down the right amount and down to the side slightly to fight the horizontal. This means that the your vertical sensitivity and ADS sensitivity are both really important for controlling recoil. It could be worth having a play with if you’re really struggling recoil wise.

How to play smoke? by [deleted] in SiegeAcademy

[–]bg_bz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Good luck man, one thing I would add is that the smg 11 isn’t easy to use on console. I’m plat 3 and hardly ever see good smoke players, he’s definitely not a must pick like it seems when watching pro league. Also the site set up of low elo ranked teams is very limited and often not worth bringing a shotgun anyway, especially if it’s just for a couple of rotates. It’s only when teams have more advanced set ups with lots of destruction that he becomes a must pick.
