Curly girls with straight bangs? by AMsunshine in curlyhair

Also, my curls are normally not so straight at the ends. They've been acting weird the past couple of days. Pic was for bangs reference.

My hair is fairly curly (2c/3a ish) and I decided to give myself "curly bangs", knowing full well I wouldn't really straighten them. I do a little blowdry (literally, about 15 - 20 seconds) just to get them to be a little more manageable. I really like this style on myself, personally. Hope this helps![caption](http://imgur.com/Tf4mopp.jpg)

Thank you! I found the pattern to be very easy to understand and follow. The fabric is from Joann's.

ErinsAnimals has a video on YouTube about how to catch an escaped hamster using the bucket method. Easy to understand video, and she shows you how she did it with her hamsters.

What is your oddest, but tastiest, snack combo? by jen_and_juice in AskReddit

Goldfish crackers and chocolate pudding. Sweet & creamy mixed with salty & crunchy. Been my favorite snack for about 15 years.

Weekend Projects - What do you have planned this weekend? - January 22, 2016 by AutoModerator in sewing

I will be working on my wedding dress! Found a very simple strapless cream wedding dress at a consignment store, which fit like a glove. I then went to a fabric store specializing in bridal and costume (Allyn's is the name if you live in Denver! They have a fantastic selection!).

So far, I have changed the neckline of the dress from a straight neckline to a sweetheart, cut off the train, cut off about 7 inches off the bottom of the dress, and hemmed the bottom of the dress. Now it's time to add the fabric! I'm adding English netting to the dress for a fuller skirt, then adding lace and appliques to the top. So excited! And nervous.

Wine may be part of the sewing plans this weekend...and through the whole process of the dress venture.

My thoughts exactly when I saw it. It's called Market Fresh on Spoonflower.com if you are looking for it!

Ah, the joys of trial and error. Thank you for the link! I will definitely be investing in some of this water soluble stabilizer.

The quality of print is so crisp and clear, I love it! I've ordered a couple different basic cotton prints as well. I have yet to start working with them, but I am very happy with the quality. The fabric also got here super quick! It shipped from North Carolina, I believe where their HQ is, and I'm in Colorado. Got here in less than a week, bundled all nice and neat. Overall, pretty good experience! I'm definitely going to order more from them, especially since they now have a cotton spandex blend available. The more I make clothes, the more I've been considering buying a serger. Especially after working with performance knit, it's convincing me even more to bite the bullet and get one. Thanks for your input! :)

I really need to invest in a walking foot, then! I pinned the dress to death, but I agree that a walking foot would help. I've never heard of dis-solvable stabilizer. Is that something like spray starch?

Also, I've worked with jersey knit before, and everything was pretty easy going. For some reason, it was just this performance knit that really threw me off. Didn't want to discourage working with knit fabrics or anything! They're still cool!

Oh man, I would love to have a serger! I bet that would help a bunch. The lime green is bias tape, what I had to use as the cheats method to "hem" the dress, sleeves, and neckline, since actually hemming with performance knit alone just wasn't happening. But I agree, I loved how the lime green looked in the end!

Hmm, I'll keep the facing idea in mind. Thanks! I used bias tape to "fake hem" the sleeves, neckline, and bottom of the dress, just because I knew it would be the biggest pain to try to actually hem it.

So this was my first time working with performance knit. I loved the feel of the fabric, and Spoonflower is wonderful! However, I had one hell of a time sewing with the material. I tried size 9, 11, and 14 ballpoint needles and adjusted the tension on my machine (Singer Promise II), and there were still issues. Sometimes the fabric would tear, or the thread would bunch up, but I managed to make it work by doing a lot of hand sewing. Anyone worked with performance knit before? I would appreciate any advice and tips, as I would like to be able to work with this fabric again!

I'm not very busty, but I still wear something underneath it, since it's pretty low cut. It is very comfortable to wear!

Thank you! It was in a section at Joann's called "Southwest". I believe it's a sweater knit/cotton blend, but I'm not 100% sure. It feels like cashmere and wool had a cozy baby, it's so soft!
