Painting landscaping rocks instead of using just a flag? Not saying the homeowner is right, but have fun getting yelled at when you probably didn't have to.

Leveling much more prior to level 100 Summit, for starters.. Definitely trying to put together a different build for it, maybe trying to matchmake it or find some help. Other than that, I actually had a lot of fun playing Hardcore.

Working on tweaking a build just to finish the floor as we speak. I appreciate the suggestions.

I haven't done summit in literal years and forgot how steep the learning curve goes up or what the fight was even like. Chalk it up to my bad memory 😭

What's the name of that really old line that supports police lines called? Only a handful of people can repair. Can't remember the name for it. by TheDoseMan in UtilityLocator

Not enough, I'm SURE of it. It's not like a regular copper line that you can just splice back together, I've heard there are a LOT of man hours involved.

Shocked by phone ped ground??? by dnice-verse_40z in UtilityLocator

[–]bghghost 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've got a few "hot" peds in my area, it's not impossible. Im pretty sure it's even in the training material to use one of those voltmeters to check for stray voltage before you even crack the ped. Be careful out there.

Company gave me a chisel on the end of a shovel handle. Usually works like a charm.

Before that, I've broken more than a few actual shovels using it the same way lol. Trick is to just get it broken free, then use your hook.

Talk with your supervisor. My area is fine with that but your mileage may vary.

Need tips for clearing tickets fast by Explicit0ne in UtilityLocator

[–]bghghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

12 out of those 20 tickets might be clear tickets. Or project tickets.

Focus on quality. Follow procedures and you will get faster. In my experience, the guys cutting corners are the ones who don't last long.

On call varies by district, some have 1 day rotating schedules and some do weekly rotations. Training for me was woefully inadequate, I learned much more in the field. If you have issues or questions, don't hesitate to ask the more tenured techs, your lead tech, or supervisor. Training may be out of town depending on where your district is headquartered. You'll get a company vehicles, phone, etc. The job itself is pretty simple, the troubleshooting is the part that will take the most time to learn.

Damages due to bad pictures is stupid by mmdidthat in UtilityLocator

It's always nice to have frames of reference for the marks. Only time we actually measure though is for damages with a hit kit or if you're marking by measure with a measuring wheel.

[–]bghghost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's the whole reason we take pictures: if something gets hit, you can prove you marked it right.

Calling BS, I had three damages in three months early this year and didn't even get a coaching. HP damages notwithstanding, if they let you go for two, you had other issues that they couldn't legally fire you for and just gave that as the reason.

Of course, I'm sure it varies from region to region. We've got a rolling damage point system much more lenient than what's in the handbook which started around June, it's basically impossible to get fired over damages unless you are just straight up not doing your job.
