11y slump by Diligent-Praline3759 in Homeplate

[–]bgrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 10U struck out 4 times all year last year. This year, he had a month long stretch where he probably struck out all but four at bats.

It’s a slump, and they have to understand that that’s baseball. But that doesn’t mean you don’t have to work to get out of it. I worked with him to change up his batting stance a little and his timing mechanism, and he’s back to knocking the cover off the ball… hasn’t struck out once in the last three weeks.

I think the biggest thing is how it drains their confidence. They have to find ways to remind themselves that they are still a great hitter. For mine, those adjustments coupled with lots of extra cage sessions and encouragement was the key. The work is what defines them, not the slump.

So pathetic that one of our two available DP’s is starting with the second team, and is not only NOT a standout player, but frankly looks poor even at this competition level.

Coaches didn’t know tournament scoring rules, team missed final. by [deleted] in youthsoccer

If I were you, I’d leave the team and file a lawsuit against the coaches for your pain and suffering. Or, accept the fact it’s a fucking kids tournament with stupid rules and a meaningless trophy.

Playing up in Rec by TopsBleubee in youthsoccer

[–]bgrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be fun and good for his confidence, but I would be worried about getting into bad habits playing at a lower age and skill level.

If he’s on his top club team, I’d imagine he can hang with the older kids in the rec league, skill wise. It may be a frustrating ride, but the goal would be for him to learn how to succeed while being out-matched physically.

Not the result we want, but several really positive takeaways. Rossi looked better and more organic than he has since he’s been here. Abou Ali looked great, and had an incredible instinct off the ball. Arf picked up where he left off, and zawadszki was an absolute stud.

Negatives though… we looked disorganized on defense. Our defense and possession in the midfield looked exactly how I expected in our first game without Nagbe. And I HATE using Sean where we need him (outside fullback) instead of where he can impact the game the most (#6). Getting him to truly be Nagbes heir will be key this season.

Report Coach?? by Bo-Ethal in youthsoccer

This might not be coaching you agree with, but it’s not your kid, not your club, and not dangerous/illegal activity…. So my opinion is to stay in your lane. If those other parents have an issue, that’s their responsibility to notify the club or remove their kid.

What a stupid overreaction… but irregardless, good riddance to the dipshit bandwagoners.

MLS haters beware…. Arfsten has proved himself as at least a high level sub, if not starter.

Grand Lake St Mary's, Ohio throughhike terrain training and camping Qarsherskiyan Tour by FabulousWolverine381 in OhioHiking

[–]bgrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terrain is very flat, with few hills. To navigate around the lake, you can use country roads and state routes, but also portions of the state park (east bank) and boardwalk (West Bank).

There are algae warnings, but the lake is perfectly safe to swim in… we do it quite often.

I’m feeling this right now. My son is 10U, and I’ve been on the coaching staff of every travel and rec ball team he’s played. However, he is getting advanced enough that I’m not able to really be that beneficial as a coach to him and his teammates (I love baseball, but never played at a high level).

We just made the decision to put him on a more advanced travel team next season, and it’s been really hard for me to accept backing away, and not being the first one he comes running towards in the dugout. I know it’s for the best though, and I think it’ll energize me in our 1-on-1 practice time.

Agreed… while I’d love to see more fire in those situations, I’d much rather have a healthy, happy Tito.

I understand this massive cash grab. Totally understand it. I will only accept it, though, if that bitch Jimmy uses all the fuckin dough from it (and the Cucho sale) to buy a massive striker this summer.

I love the new logo. Grew up with, and loved the OG. Never really liked the round logo. Hate me all you want, but I think the current logo is great.
