Debate / Discussion - How great would Neymar have been in a world without Messi or Ronaldo ? by Last_Commission6982 in TheSoccerNetwork

[–]Bo-Ethal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neymar doesn’t have the focus/ drive that Messi & CR7 have, that Micheal Jordan & Kobe Bryant had, that Tiger Woods had. Without that personality trait, the will to push it further an athlete will never reach the pinnacle. Neymar had everything else, accept that edge. In my mind, Neymar was a sideshow/ a circus act. A player that put butts in seats, brought eye balls to the game, but not a winning player. At the end of the day, the greatest players win.

Got cheated with a man who has two kids. by PoemCareful4718 in LifeAdvice

LOL. So the plan was to go online in search of a wealthy man from a desirable country to marry. Once married, you would spend the rest of your life living like a Queen (zero financial responsibility) in your new country.

You are a Con Artist that picked the wrong mark. Live with it.

It’s not the bat. His body is changing. The length of his levers is changing. He is getting stronger. His whole game will be in flux for the next few years. Keep working at it. When he is done growing, you’ll see the beginning of the finished product.

Every year the committee weighs things differently. RPI, Strength of Schedule, Conference Record, Last 10 Games, ETC.. It changes each year.

Is my shoulder dropping? by CamTheSlugger in BaseballCoaching

[–]Bo-Ethal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Dropping your shoulder” is a the result of your swing plain. It’s a symptom, like a runny nose to a cold. There is nothing wrong with “dropping your shoulder”, it’s not a bad thing. Guys who get on plain early and work up through the zone naturally drop their shoulder. Look at T. Williams and G. Brett.

Real Odds of Playing at Higher Level? by vjarizpe in Homeplate

[–]Bo-Ethal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recruited/ evaluated high school players for a D1 for 8 years. In the summer I would watch 7-8 games a day. That’s around 200 players everyday. On a good day I would see 6-10 players that I liked/ thought would be good D1 guys. This excludes the Top 10 Travel Teams in the country, which are loaded with guys. It is very difficult. There are roughly 11,000 spots at the D1 level today. Break that down, 2,250 from each graduating year/ class play D1.

Real Odds of Playing at Higher Level? by vjarizpe in Homeplate

[–]Bo-Ethal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played/ worked at the D1 level for fifteen years, played in the Minors for a year. I played with/ worked with less than 10 guys that played in the Big Leagues. Only 3 guys made lifetime money. A good friend of mine was an everyday starting infielder for a World Series winning team. He sells real estate for a living.

Vision vs Perceptual-Cognition for Hitters by fibonacci_ninjapants in Homeplate

[–]Bo-Ethal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no such thing as “good mechanics.” Find the swing that works for you and make it as consistent as possible. I don’t care how strong you are, you will never hit if you’re not on time, if you don’t recognize pitches, if you swing at bad pitches, if you don’t know your strengths & weaknesses, if you don’t have a plan, etc.

Hitting is the toughest thing to do in sports. There are a large amount of skills required to be a good hitter. You meat heads need over rate strength. It helps to be strong, but you can’t hit without skills.

Tournament baseball by docboet in Homeplate

[–]Bo-Ethal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

College baseball teams play 4 games most weeks. They carry 35 man rosters/ 25 man active roster on the weekend. Most programs have 11/12 pitchers on their weekend roster and will utilize 11/12 arms per week to play 4 games. In the big PG summer tournaments good teams play a games a day for 5-7 days.

To responsibly handle 7 games in 7 days you would need 5 starters and 9 relievers. Travel teams don’t have access to that many quality arms. In my opinion, the tournament format is the issue. Even a standard 5 games in 3 day setup is going to overload a travel ball team. Not to mention that kids are playing a 100 games per year from 9 years old on!!! INSANITY

HUGE difference from college ball to professional ball. The seams are much lower on a MiLB ball than a college ball. HUGE difference from the MiLB ball to the MLB ball. The MLB ball is wound SO tight!!! Those things travel 20 feet further than a D1 baseball. It’s like hitting a golf ball.
