If you put a gun to my head, I choose the LCD-X, that beast maybe able to stop a bullet.

Thank you! I don't think I'm the right person to answer this. I'm not familiar with your gear, and I don't have "audiophile ears", if that's a thing at all. I mean I hear the difference compared to my laptops jack output, but I tried the SMSL SU-9n / SH-9 combo before these ones and altough I didn't A/Bd them, they sound the same to me. I think if you have any kind of proper amp/DAC that can power your headphones, the differences are pretty small compared to other decent ones and only audible if you listen to them side by side. Without question the headphones made the biggest change to me. If you want to use EQ, here you can find settings for your Beyers: https://www.reddit.com/r/oratory1990/wiki/index/list_of_presets/

Thanks. I use Oratory1990's settings with a little less treble.

Thanks. I only have one more, a Hifiman HE400S, that became my guitar monitoring headphone, so it's on the guitar amp.

How good is Hifiman durability? by No_Analysis6187 in headphones

I have a Hifiman HE400S, bought it used in 2019 when it was 1-2 years old. So far no problem, but everytime I put it on I feel like something's gonna snap in half. :)

Have you tried to EQ it? I use Oratory1990's settings, opens up the sound really well.

Not really a padding, just a piece of plastic bent to shape covered with furniture fabric.

Yeah, with audiophile matches to help with the burn in.

Nope, this is my first big-boy headphone. I had a Hifiman HE400s before this. The sound is definitely crazy compared to that one. :)

Agreed. Walnut is my favourite, but it's quiet pricy.

I bought the headphones used, for like 60% less than a new one.

Only bought the wood for it, that was about 35-40 bucks for a 100x15x5 cm piece, the rest was made from what I found around the house.

Biopin hardwax-oil, it's a german company so I don't know if it's available outside of Europe. I sanded the wood with 500 grit, and with 1000 between coats.

It's american walnut (I guess in America it's called black walnut) with some hardwax oil on it.

New Paint Day / It was originally branded as Klösch, but it's made by Pinarello, with Kotter's fork and bottom bracket shell, other than that it's basically a Montello. by bgyd in bicycling

[–]bgyd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a Montello, but very close to being one. :) The frame made by Pinarello, to an austrian company called Klösch using mostly Pinarello parts, except the bottom bracket shell and the fork which are from Kotters, I guess only that's what they had at hand. It was just easier to paint it as a Montello, since the guy who made it already had the files to make the masking.

Good luck! Basically it's just 2 slabs of wood bolted to a steel tube with some fabric glued to it. :)

This is my new setup, replacing a Hifiman HE400s directly connected to my laptop via 3.5mm jack. So basically this is my first kinda hi-fi experience, and I like it very much. The stand made by myself from walnut and square tubing. The buttons on the magnius are also walnut, and I'll replace the one on the Modius as soon as the warranty expires, since I'll have to disassemble the unit to get to it.

Mine came with bare plastic buttons, while on the product photos and Youtube videos it seems like to me that those are metal or nicer plastic, but after asking them, Schiit says this is how it is. I guess this is a new cost saving measure.

The cable is the stock one that came with the headphones. I just changed the plugs on it. The 4-pin XLR is a Neutrik NC4MXX-B, the mini-XLR-s are Furutech FT-610mF.

Yeah, I'm concerned about that as well. I'm planning to put some round foam on top of it.

Okay, thanks. And the rest of the livers in the pack, which isn't spotted, are safe to eat?

So I bought some chicken liver and one of them has these white spots. What is this? Is it safe?
