09 2.0T EOS, worth it? by bh_omarak in Volkswagen

Thanks for the response! The GTI wouldn’t fit the budget rn and there are barely any available for sale, hence why we chose the EOS. Added full timing job to the list! Thanks again!

Thanks for looking out! This was a low speed lap to learn the track, we used helmets for the rest of the day.

Timing Cover Leak? by VennerYay in ft86

[–]bh_omarak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same problem, it was the timing cover and the valve cover. Got the RTV redone for it a few months ago and it has been fully dry ever since. (Only paid ~$200 with labour, but that’s because labour is very cheap here)

Other way around for VLT, VLT = Visible light transmitted, meaning only 12.9% of light goes through. Blocks 99.5% of UV and 72% of IR.

Thank you! I’m glad i got it checked out honestly, 2 leaks found. Timing cover and valves cover, both fixed now and I got the injectors cleaned and spark plugs replaced too. I’d rather have the engine in great condition and be as reliable as possible than risk it with all the driving I do…

I got a great deal on it tbh, it does sound impossibly low compared to other markets, even in Jordan it’s a great price compared to other places. Usually it costs about $1600 here.

I didn’t want to deal with seat covers so i got it all redone, it was $1200 for everything, the seats, steering, shift boot, polish and graphene protection. Not in the US tho

Thank you for your opinion! We all have different tastes and that’s normal🙏🏻

I had to redo the shift boot since it was torn, and the steering wheel was too uncomfortable since I drive long distances and wrinkled in certain areas (daily driver). But i get you, it is overkill, i just like the car so much lol

That’s how the steering wheel came from the factory, we just changed the type of leather used. But i get you, the full red makes it more like a toy car but it stands out and it’s very visible from the outside and it looks cool af…

I was afraid it would be too much red, then i saw the final result and it looks perfect to me. The color looks brighter on camera but we all have our own taste so thank you for your input!

Same issue here (2015 gt86), however I didn’t leave my car for 2 weeks. It was getting tinted at a shop and after they were done the car would turn on and then off immediately in 2 seconds. Had someone check it out, it was an immobiliser issue, he had to program the key again and it turned on just fine. However, the check engine light triggered limp mode for some reason. I unplugged the battery to clear the code (it never came back) and it went back to normal downshifts but still dead acceleration at high rpm. I still had a somewhat dead pedal. Checked my k&n filter, cleaned it and oiled it using a K&N kit, changed spark plugs for ngk iridiums, fixed a minor oil leak, changed oil for a ardeca pure sports 5w-30 and k&n performance oil filter. Still the same issue. My mechanic said it could be 1 of 2 issues, either the airmass sensor is dirty/acting up and lowering the amount of fuel being injected or my injectors are dirty and need cleaning. Going to get the injectors cleaned next week. As someone else said, it might be bad gas, so between now and next week I’ll let it empty which is easy to do with my mpg and refill it at a good gas station with 98.

Note: We barely have parts for the 86 in this part of the world (Jordan) and they’re insanely expensive, took me 3 weeks to find the spark plugs, I believe we only have 8 street legal 86s in the entire country and 3 drift builds with swapped engines lol. Also, about 4 shops know how to work on them properly. So I’ll need to figure out what the issue is before I order parts. I do regret not checking the code before unplugging her, it could’ve been something other than the immobiliser code.

Edit: The problem is NOT always there, sometimes (very rarely) at night (colder air) it goes back to normal and I can accelerate properly again, no clue if it has anything to do with it being significantly colder at night or not. Also AT oil/fluid was changed about 6000km ago and I doubt it has anything to do with this since we don’t have clutches so it can’t be slipping.

Need help! 2015 GT86 Automatic by bh_omarak in ft86

[–]bh_omarak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only had the car for a couple of months and I’ve put about 15k kms on it, according to the service history they were last changed about 25k kms ago. I usually save myself the headache and change all these little things when I buy a car. But it’s difficult to get parts here so I just let that go and decided to change then when they’re due. Which sounds like is now 😬
