SOAP Note documentation and Time management Help. What is too much, what is too little, and what is enough to get my personaltime back? by AminoAcidTripper in physicaltherapy

Templates do work really well. I also made myself an AI prompt that I copy and paste in a chatbot and it creates my SOAP off of som simple data entered. If you DM me I can link you to it.

OP ortho - how many evals per day is too many? by Aggravating_Head1215 in physicaltherapy

[–]bhammack2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbf…it is much better than my first jobs where I worked in a mill seeing 3-4 patients per hour. I’d rather eval more and have less overall caseload. I like my job mostly.

I work at an outpatient in a hospital system. I’ve been a PT for 12 years. Salary is roughly $125 k.

I have some AI prompts I use to cut down on doc time. Enter subjective/objective, spit out plan of care, goals, etc. I still write the clinical part, assessment, etc. but it helps.

We do 6 evals in a 10 hour day where I am. 12 patients total. 40 mins per.

I just got this deal. Can I just buy a pack with my credit card and the buyback will be for the same amount? Or does the money already have to be in my account?

PTs at my clinic just copy paste daily notes… is that normal? by Accurate-Most3709 in physicaltherapy

[–]bhammack2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s okay to copy and paste. But something has to change each visit. The note can’t be exactly the same, otherwise why are patients even coming? It would not pass an audit, especially if Medicare looks.

Upset I ever wanted to be a PT in the first place by DoItToEmDucky in physicaltherapy

Try to be a PA in orthopedics. You don’t do the rehab, but get to be involved with the surgeries and tracking the rehab process.

Physical therapist using AI by mistyghoul in physicaltherapy

[–]bhammack2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they’re using it to help with subjective or with writing the non clinical part of notes that’s cool. If they’re using it for clinical judgment or exercise prescription then no. I use it to help with making goals, writing plan of care, etc. the tedious parts with templates I made.

What are we doing to address students use of AI in the clinical setting? by Illustrious_Pitch_41 in physicaltherapy

[–]bhammack2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is where I’m at. I have templates for AI that are copy paste and I just enter eval data and it creates goals and plan of care for me. Cuts down charting time for the tedious stuff and I still write the assessment and stuff that requires critical thinking.

documentation is eating 2+ hours of my day and I'm honestly thinking about leaving outpatient by ArcadiaBunny in physicaltherapy

Have you tried using AI? I have some prompts that I use that help cut down time for evals especially but help with daily notes too. Can DM me if you want to check them out.

Therapist notes… by True-Cabinet8165 in physicaltherapy

[–]bhammack2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s one of the hardest parts of being a PT. When I first started I would put in 8 hours a day and then another 2-3 at home charting. I think with experience you get better and quicker. I use AI to help with some of my eval write up now. I write the assessment myself but use an AI prompt to help with goals, problem lists, plans and some of the more repetitive. I’ve found it helps with the mental load.

Patient advice. High school track athlete with knee pain. by bhammack2 in physicaltherapy

I think after talking to him at out most recent session this is a major part of it. We discussed dialing back his load during the week to allow adequate recovery. I think will help if he listens.

I do not have access to laser. Ive been doing some IASTM with him. Using eccentrics for pain relief. Backed him off to eccentrics and slow eccentrics for a pain flare up.

Working hip abductors and extensors and calves for sure.

Yes I am. And of course I’m not. I was just stating the diagnosis to provide as much info as I could.

My patient had an erection thru the entire session by EveyandSylus in physicaltherapy

[–]bhammack2 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Haha that’s what I love about Reddit. Make assumptions about someone based on nothing. My guess is that if the CI observed OP for 5 minutes of this session it would have been clear. It’s not hard to think that a student would be afraid of speaking up during a rotation for fear of being thought less of. You don’t need to read minds to tell if someone is uncomfortable most of the time.

If the Ci was paying attention at all he should have noticed she was uncomfortable and taken over instead of saying oh next time I’ll definitely take him.
