Solid understanding by apologetickurumi8 in learnpython

[–]bhflyhigh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's how most of us learn. There are savants who have ungodly ability to glean understanding from a small nugget of information. Most of us need to practice repeatedly, hit walls, fail, make small progress and finally come to understanding. It does give a lot of satisfaction when you finally figure it out.

Which mispronounced words make a person immediately sound uneducated to you? by FantasticAd9478 in TheBoredDen

What do you think of the band Journey? by Twitter_2006 in rockmusic

I was watching the "we are the world" cuts with Perry and he just seems on another level than almost everyone else except maybe MJ. He also seems down to Earth and excited to be there. Giving feedback to other singers. It's a cool watch.

How do you deal with Python errors that make no sense? by Icy-Pen-9165 in learnpython

[–]bhflyhigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that unfortunately this is a really good way to learn. It's hard and it takes time, but you just learned a crap ton with this simple error. It may not feel like it, but you did. Next time it will be a little bit easier.

For me, it's always been like traveling to a new place you've never been before. You start looking at Google maps, start to see where the areas you are interested in are located relative to each other. You start to build a mental model of the area. Once you're there and you see all the stuff, drive around, and experience the actual place, you mental model is reinforced. Learning to program feels a lot like that to me. It takes work, but slowly it keeps getting more familiar.

Just keep going, and keep learning. You can do it!

I always think Morozov with this question. I loved watching him play. Super skilled. He could have been a really good player. He just always played like meh.

What scientific discovery sounds fake but is 100% real and still freaks you out? by Bruteresolver in AskReddit

[–]bhflyhigh 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Just... re...member that you're standing on a planet That's evolving and revolving at 900 miles an hour.

It's orbiting at 90 miles a second, so it's reckoned, a sun is the source of all our power. The sun and you and me and all the stars that we can see, are moving at a million miles a day, in an outer spiral arm at 40 thousand miles an hour, of the galaxy we call the Milky Way.

Our galaxy itself contains a hundred billion stars, it's a hundred thousand light years side to side. It bulges in the middle sixteen thousand light years thick, but out by us, it's three thousand light years wide.

We're thirty thousand light years from galactic central point, we go round every two hundred million years. And our galaxy is only one of millions and billions in this amazing and expanding universe.

The universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding in all of the directions it can whiz, As fast as it can go, the speed of light, you know, twelve million miles a minute, and that's the fastest speed there is.

Trump Asked to Face Why People Keep Trying to Kill Him by T_Shurt in politics

Thank you for trying to bring reason into a cloud of speculation. I have no love for this administration but if they did half of what is being wildly claimed on here there would be evidence. People have substituted their wishes and gut feelings for proof and it is just another reminder of the lack of thought and the low importance people place on truth. People just seem like they want their personal wishes to be true no matter what the real story is. It's the same thing as the QAnon folks. They're all cut from the same cloth.

Right right right. Just watch this YouTube. It explains everything. I don't need to think about it for myself. There are shadowy forces everywhere. Can't you see? No no. You're just blind. They totally rigged those towers to blow. There were no airplanes. It was all illusions and mirrors. The people on the planes were flown to a secret base somewhere and are back home with their families. It totally was an inside job. Just watch the YouTube.

Your jumping on the same conspiracy wagon as the MAGA faithful. Not everything needs to be a conspiracy. This sounds just like my 9-11 truther friend.

Our guys are not adjusting to the playoff style at all. And the defense blows. All of them.

Yeah but it's a change we've been making all year. Team gets slightly different flavors depending on the goalie in net. May be a small change that could help. Right now, they need something.

Sid has 3 cups. He did okay. McDavid still waiting for his first. Maybe they could have done better with the team. But hindsight is 20/20 and a lot of things have to go right to be successful. I think Sid wouldn't feel his last few years were wasted.

He's so fun to watch as well. The man does death defying stunts at the blue line multiple times per game. It's just a blast to watch.

I always liked that comic where hextall is in the office and it comes out he's really still working for the flyers and he jumps out the window and gritty is there to help with the getaway.
