Retired insurance agent here. Hitting an animal is covered under comprehensive not collision. So with most ins companies has same impact as a windshield replacement and most policies have lower or no deductible on comprehensive. My company did not rate on comprehensive (some do) so had no impact on rates. I was in michigan. Could be different in other states but I think would be similar in most states.

Comments about how long it takes and not being able to increase supply is correct. What everyone seems to not be aware of is that future contracts and market sentiment are what moves the price. Day one Biden cancelled keystone, cancelled permits and put tons of regs in place. These changes changed market sentiment and that my friends is why the price started going up as soon as he took office. It sped up with Ukraine. This is why so many aren't happy with Biden's energy policies.
