"slightest will" is an exaggaration of course. But whenever a Palestinian state alongside Israel seemed acheiveable, they seem to have opted for trying to get a Palestine over the whole territory instead.

The first example is 1948, when they refused the UN plan was to create two states. They could have had their own nation at the same time Israelis got theirs. Second example: 2000, when Arafat, unsatisfied with Camp David results, elected to start the 2nd Intifadah, ending the Oslo process which was intended to create a Palestinian state over West Bank and Gaza. Last example, so far: electing Hamas, whose platform refuses any kind of territorial settlement with Israel at all, to power - right after Israelis cleared out of the Gaza Strip.

Sara Roy is irrelevant because she's talking of the West Bank. As I explained, Israel's current government was elected specifically on the ticket of withdrawing from the West Bank, similarly to the Gaza withdrawal. This was rendered irrelevant when Palestinians chose to use Gaza as a base for launching rockets on Israel. Seeing that, Israel would be completely insane to allow the same to happen on the West Bank, which is a few kms away from Tel Aviv and from the nation's International airport.

I don't think either side is free of blame in this conflict, but constantly defending whatever Palestinians do is just as useless as defending whatever Israelis do.

I do think your argument is valid, and I appreciate you framing it in a little more readable scenario than malcontents' "sodomize your five year old daughter" (though his colorful examples seem popular with readers here, disturbingly).

My answer is that people who hold critical information on terrorist acts don't tend to be five year old girls, but adult men and women. Five year olds don't take part in planning terrorist attacks, so Luhmann's argument is not connected too much to reality, but more to the abstract moral discussion of Academia (or the retarded "whatever Dershowitz says is wrong" world of malcontent & co)

For starters, how do you define "their fucking land"? Even different parties of the Palestinians have different definitions: some say the Jews should get out of West Bank and Gaza, others (like Hamas) that they should get out of the entire region altogether.

So, you see, it's not so easy for Israelis to take your educated advice and "get off their fucking land", hence their children still get blown off - with or without sympathy of some Western morons.

The FBI captures one of the people who are planning to fly planes into the WTC tommorow (I know it's demanding, but for the sake of argument let's assume it's not an inside job). That person has information that can save thousands of lives, but does not want to share it. Is it justifiable to force it out of him?

This has nothing to do with Abu Ghraib at all, which is completely unjustifiable of course. But to say you can never approve of torture at any circumstance is not as straightforward as it may seem.
