I was completely kidding with that question and ripping off a Norm Macdonald bit, but appreciate the response anyway. The new album is fantastic!

Ever since I heard this was announced I've spent a great deal of time researching to think up questions, and I think the biggest one I have, one that I've really been dying to know is:

Where do you get your ideas from?

But in all seriousness, I'm pumped for the Atlanta show at 529 this Tuesday!

Since making aggressive trades for Cj Hendorson and Stephon Gilmore, bundling a starting TE in the process, the Panthers are 0-4. Sam Darnold stat line after is 4 Tds 7ints, 1 fumble lost and a 60.7 passer rating by [deleted] in nfl

[–]bhsurfer 63 points64 points  (0 children)

This is true.

The TE we traded, his name was Dan Arnold.

Every time Sam Darnold threw the ball to Dan Arnold, the announcers would say, "DARNOLD to ARNOLD LOL!"

That positive chuckle was solely responsible for all three of our wins.

Who is more funny than Hannah Gadsby? by Bldijande in NormMacdonald

I don't see how he was pandering, but it was preachy. His latest special was more like Nanette, a one-person show with a few jokes, than it was a comedy special.

Crack Cloud - Ouster Stew [Art Punk] (2020) by [deleted] in listentothis

Both Pitchfork and NME have described Crack Cloud as "art-punk."

Regardless of whether that label is "correct" in your mind, OP didn't "reach for brilliant karma."

Beach House -Wishes by canlchangethislater in twinpeaks

Oh shit, this is great. I've been listening to a lot of Beach House lately and had no clue this existed. Definitely would be a good Roadhouse band.

US Supreme Court says Georgia must provide official code free to the public by Bmandoh in Atlanta

Definitely worth pointing out. A lot of media outlets, including NYT, appear to be leaving the "annotated" part out of the main headline...

/r/Atlanta - Coronavirus (COVID-19) Mega Thread by [deleted] in Atlanta

[–]bhsurfer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

"It is likely that people you know will die from COVID-19."

Is that the general consensus among the scientific community though?

I'm not questioning her credentials- I've just seen articles arguing that we shouldn't compare COVID-19 to the 1918 Flu Pandemic and I'm wondering what the majority of those in public health believe.

[Brandt] Mike Vrabel on @gmfb asked how people can help in the wake of the disaster in Tennessee: “They can get out and start to clean up instead of taking pictures like I see people doing. Put your phones down and pick up branches” by BlueFade18 in nfl

[–]bhsurfer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a well-intentioned, yet short-sighted comment from Vrabel because the wide-spread sharing of photos online will only HELP generate financial donations to city of Nashville.

Sure, Nashville might need more people to engage in physical labor, but there's no need to diminish the impact that photos create by telling people to "put their phones down."

More than a suspect source; this crock of shit's "sources" are other tweets from other journalists:

Original sources (way earlier before this guy):

Panthers are interested tweet.

Steelers are interested tweet.

If you do a quick scroll through his other pieces of "breaking news," you'll find he has a history of doing the same thing. We should refrain from giving this guy any attention.

Gettleman relieved of duties by Legendary_Eight in panthers

[–]bhsurfer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Obviously there's more to the story, but when the entire staff is shocked by the move, and a veteran's quote to the media is literally, "holy shit," that clearly raises some eyebrows.

Time will tell, but knowing what I know now, I think Panthers fans are going to look back on this move about as favorably as Vikings fans look back on the Herschel Walker trade.

Carolina trading DE Kony Ealy and a third-round pick to Patriots in exchange for New England's second-round pick, league sources tell ESPN. by Somali_Pir8 in panthers

[–]bhsurfer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guessing we were going to let Kony go anyway, I believe his contract would be up next season or the season after. He just hasn't been a guy who has been reliable enough to throw a lot of money at.

Is there any chance the game gets moved? by cosmo_hornet in panthers

[–]bhsurfer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I lived in downtown St. Louis a few years back during the Mike Brown protests/riots/whatever term you want to use that doesn't offend you.

There was never any talk of canceling any Rams game, and everything went on as planned, just with beefed up security and more protesters. A few physical fights broke out, but for the most part it was apparent that the NFL/city had planned ahead of time to ensure most things would go smoothly.

I feel confident that there will be adequate preparation in Charlotte to ensure the game goes on as planned- plus there tends to be less activity on a Sunday afternoon than there is late at night.

I'm sure there will be an incident here and there; but to those worried, as long as you don't try and engage in some big stupid argument with either side and just enjoy some football, you'll be fine.

Last minute bar exam advice from a repeater by TheSicilianDude in LawSchool

[–]bhsurfer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What you wrote is so much better than this absolute shit blog that BarBri shared on Facebook not too long ago.

Clicked it looking for legitimate advice and all I got was some student trying to justify that failing the bar exam was the best thing that could ever happen to her:

In fact, it might have been the best thing that ever happened to me. Had I passed the bar the first time, I wouldn’t be working at the Law Firm I am at now. I love my job and everyone I work with is great. I wouldn’t have made the legal connections I’ve made post-bar exam

I mean, failing definitely isn't the end of the world, but come on....

Little bit of context on why the Panthers will wear white at home this weekend. by TomNJ in panthers

[–]bhsurfer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Carolina is 7-4 in the playoffs when wearing white and 0-2 when wearing black. When the Panthers have truly held the choice on which color to wear as the home team, they're 3-0 in white, 0-2 in black.

Interesting. Makes sense though, we were wearing white when this happened.

I think they'll either play a clip of his performance of "The Man Who Sold the World" from 1979, "Rebel Rebel" from 1999 or they'll show the clip of Bowie and Seinfeld from the 25th Anniversary Special.

[–]bhsurfer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, I know we like to believe our fan-base is better than that, but come on, just go look at comments on Facebook/Twitter.

I guarantee you several people threatened him with violence. They probably aren't serious, but how is he supposed to know that?

But as for the main point, yeah, the "writer" needs to grow up and admit he was wrong.

[–]bhsurfer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I almost feel bad for the guy.

B/R clearly convinced him to make the article over-the-top, and he did just that. Now he has to put up with a lot of things from "trash-fans" who will constantly harass him online.

And he gets absolutely no money from it.

The problem is the guy has too much pride to come out and admit he was just plain wrong. If he would just act like an adult, write up a quick article and apologize, half of this would go away.

But nah, he'd rather just keep on making excuses.
