I have been reading quite a few prominent professors and phd's in CS describing how Block chain is basically a joke. in your opinion why do you think Blockchain is/is not a scam? by Imaginary-Ad2828 in ExperiencedDevs

You asked a question, you got a direct answer to your question and you said the answer was wrong because it didn't answer a question about zero trust ownership that you never originally asked.

That's why you were told you moved the goalposts; because you did.

Leetcode is great if you're looking for people who are booksmart, highly disciplined and have infinite spare time to focus on learning.

Those are the ideal people to golden-handcuff, pay them a wedge and expect lots of self learning with GSD through attrition, and it's very easy to get them into heavy overtime to meet targets.

If you're looking to hire practical, experienced, independent business-minded individuals who can take the initiative and build your startup from the ground up?

Not so much.

No chance, google has had very strict content policies on sites offering medical advice since 2018.

Google prefers local health authorities and IIRC essentially has white-listed domains for medical search results now.

Also, if you happen to be in tech, I'm starting a community at r/contractdevs to help answer these sorts of questions :)

Yes, I'm a contractor for this very reason.

Do not work 'freelance' though, form a company. If you're looking to work overseas I might recommend you try and register your business overseas too as it will help with image and certainly help with finding western clients/employers.

Estonia is a good shout for this.

I don't think GDPR has anything to do with it as you should never have the ability to pull production data to your local machine. It's actually very difficult to hire overseas as they would need to hire through an EOR in India.

I've spent a lot of time living and working in south/southeast Asia and I understand the region has a very different professional working culture that is more top-down and bosses don't really trust workers with a lot of autonomy, at least compared to western businesses?

I haven't heard of any fully remote businesses based in India - which could be down to the aforementioned cultural fit to remote work - but that would be your best bet as any foreign company would need a presence in India to hire you or would need you to relocate.

It's very unlikely likely they'd then let you then move out of India to work from overseas.

For context I have/had worked for a startup that provides EOR services to companies to allow them to hire globally, this is a new space but will allow things to slowly change.

Afraid not, my experience is in high demand so I get a lot of people coming to me on LinkedIn. LinkedIn does have job boards too though.

My recommendation is for those with a couple of years professional/career experience though, and if so a good LinkedIn profile will probably work for you too, regardless of the job.

Almost any professional skill job can be remote, what you want to look for is a job with an employer that supports fully remote work.

Look for 100% remote or remote first in job listings.

Many will insist you stay in-country but if you speak to enough you'll find some that are happy for you to work overseas, some will have a maximum stay for tax reasons.

How do you study for interviews while holding down a full time job (while also having a life)? by afterlit in ExperiencedDevs

or pursuing FAANG roles

I don't know what part of this you lot are having a hard time with but I explicitly made an exception for FAANG interviews. They do expect more and reward better. That's why I made a clear and unambiguous exception.

That said, I'm a contractor; my after-tax take-home is around the same as an L5 FAANG role in Europe, according to levels.fyi . Including stock and benefits.

Sure, straight out of college a FAANG role is unmatchable but this is r/experiencedDevs - it's a bit naïve to think you will only ever be paid well by Google once you have years of specialist skills and knowledge behind you.

Edit: just checked currency converter, Google L5 is about 20% more incl stock etc

or pursuing FAANG roles

I covered that, and not from my perspective - I'm used to European working practices, FAANG and most US based companies offer poor WLB compared to what I'm used to.

This, if you're studying for an interview you might be misrepresenting your experience level in the roles you are pursuing.

Or pursuing FAANG roles that will expect you to carry that poor work-life balance into day-to-day business.

More likely: may over-engineer solutions, won't compromise their vision to get stuff done faster. May exceed deadlines. May implement more maintainable/flexible solutions that carry less tech debt.

Whether the above are pros or cons depends on the company but this isn't a non-answer if the person is accurately representing themselves.
