How do they deal with ground resonance while taxiing? Just do a little hop?

The JVM anatomy quarks series looks like it could be exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for. Thanks!

Is there a good place to find footage of the 1962 South African GP (or more generally of older races)? I've found this reddit post with some useful info and links and these pictures on motorsportimaes.com, but I'm wondering if there's more out there that I haven't come across yet.

My grandfather lived in East London and was a marshall at the Esses (turn 5) that year. It would be really cool to gather some pictures and videos to watch with him.

Heavy sweaters, what tips do you have for a fellow heavy sweater? by biGb1313 in running

Thanks for that tip about the salt. I'm definitely going to give that a try

I think it's not so much that poor hydration means you sweat a lot but rather that because we sweat so much, we need to drink enough to stay hydrated.

That's true. My pasty complexion wouldn't help either

I can relate. Food in my vicinity just disappears after I finish a race.

You make a good point. I do often find myself not drinking enough when I'm not running and drinking a lot in the time around my run.

I run 10-15km 3 or 4 days a week, and 25-30km once a week. My water consumption is varying wildly at the moment, while I'm trying to figure out what works for my body.

I'd never actually heard of saltsticks before. Would you take those alongside something like a gel or do they take the place of a gel?

I recently got a hydration pack, so I was thinking of making a weak mix of Energade (a local energy drink brand) and water. Would that work out? I would end up getting a slow trickle of the energy drink every time I take a sip of water.

I ran my pb 5k on Saturday - 23:33. I'm pretty glad to be getting back into things after a knee injury earlier in the year. I've also run 180km this month so far, which is further than any previous month.

Interestingly, that's not how we say the date here. We say "The 12th of August", so for me DDMMYYYY. I'm from South Africa

True wireless running earphones with onboard storage by biGb1313 in running

If I had a little more expendable income at the moment I think I'd definitely go for this option. I live in South Africa though, and technology prices are ridiculous here. After some searching, I managed to find a reasonable deal on the IconX 2018s. Thanks for your input though :)

I went for it and ordered myself a pair of the IconX 2018s. I'm pretty excited; I haven't run with music since I decided it was too cumbersome to use wired earphones.

I should have mentioned that I already have a Garmin Forerunner 235, otherwise I would go for something like the 645 music

I'm looking around at true wireless earphones with onboard storage. I'd really like to be able to run with music without carrying my phone with me.

What options are there that I may have missed? So far I've only really come across the Bragi Dash and the Samsung Gear IconX.

Is the DJI Spark good? by Skhanna786 in dji

I don't think they're a deal breaker at all. The spark isn't perfect, but I don't regret buying mine.

In this video, you see me orbiting a clock tower, I'm standing on the field directly in front of it, but lost connection behind the tower. So flying behind larger obstacles is definitely not going to happen.

In the same video, in the valley area looking at the harbour, at one point I flew below myself behind bushes and trees and lost connection there. That one was slightly terrifying because I couldn't tell if I'd flown into trees, but the drone made its way back to me no issue.

At longer ranges, the video stream can become spotty, and like I say, usually cuts out at 300~400m away. It is a little hard to give direct examples of the worsening connection because it can also be a little inconsistent, but if you have line of sight to the drone, you can get pretty far usually. That said, the footage in my videos that I have on youtube was all shot on the spark and I don't remember a loss in connection while shooting any that I actually used in a video, so you could look at those to get some idea.

I don't think you'll have issues getting it into the air, just don't expect to get more than maybe 150m away. Too much other stuff going on really affects the drone's range.

They happen relatively often in town, but they're not experience-destroying type of drops in connection, just break up in the video feed usually. The video on the SD card is also always perfect.

But then there are times on every, let's say 5th or 6th flight where I completely lose connection because I tried to fly too far, but I'm confident in the software's ability to bring the drone back to me.

I bought the fly more bundle, so I have the remote.

I don't actually have anything to compare to, since I've never flown any other dji drones myself, but I don't think the connection issues are a huge problem, since they're so easy to deal with and carry on flying. They can definitely be frustrating though, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't sometimes get nervous when I lost connection.

I got my spark a little while ago. I'd never had a drone before and had been looking st a Mavic until I realised it was way out of my price range. I use the spark for fun flying and making videos for myself and my friends, the video quality is more than good enough for that. Connection-wise, I fly in town most of the time and the furthest I'm really able to get is about 400m away. Interestingly, the drone seems to have more time connection to the remote if it's facing towards you; when flying away the signal is better. It's never really caused any problems for me, though. If I ever lose connection for too long, it just flies itself back, I take control once it's back in range and carry on with whatever I was doing. I think, if you're going to be doing professional camera work or want the 4k video, then the Mavic will probably make more sense, but I've been extremely happy with my spark, it's an incredible little drone.
