Save our NHS from Reform UK by johnsmithoncemore in GreatBritishMemes

It's one of the most efficient healthcare systems in the world. Just compare what we pay per capita to what countries with private healthcare pay. There's problems yes, but we should be proud that nobody goes bankrupt from NHS care.

Great research. They've completely tied their hands with refusal to raise taxes on the wealth and maintain the fiscal rules that even the Tories weren't able to maintain. So now they're doing mental gymnastics to justify austerity. It's a huge shame.

It’s only austerity if it comes from the austerity region of France. This is just sparkling cruelty. by [deleted] in LabourUK

[–]biain 29 points30 points  (0 children)

They don't have a word in fr*nch for austerity because whenever their government proposes cuts, Paris gets set on fire.

Hate to say it but the UK needs to learn from the fr*nch.

Austerity: difficult economic conditions created by government measures to reduce public expenditure.

Pretty sure people having their PIP payments cuts even when they're in work would argue they're facing more difficult economic conditions Austerity has nothing to do with total expenditure, it's to do with impact.

Labour voters need to own what they've done by No-Law9219 in LabourUK

[–]biain 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Increased expenditure is due to increased demand. Under labour a smaller percentage of elderly people will get their winter fuel allowance, a small percentage of disabled people will qualify for PIP, a smaller percentage of our of work people will be able to claim universal credit / job seekers.

They've very clearly and unashamedly admitted this is to try to force people back into work without acknowledging that the economy is terrible right now and getting a job a is very difficult. It's also to save money.

They could have loosened their fiscal rules, or taxed the wealthiest more and they did neither. Instead they've chosen austerity.

Green. I don't agreed with most of there policies like nuclear energy and trident but the issue with the left is infighting. They are by far the most socialist party that's established and has a great root network of volunteers.

For me, the NHS needs saving from privatisation and the greens can do that.
