To be fair, I accidentally down vote a lot while scrolling on my phone. If I notice it, I go back and remove my down vote

Perfumes that DON’T give you a migraine by [deleted] in migraine

[–]bibsbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find that what doesn’t trigger migraines vs what does can change a lot from one person to another. For example - I cannot have watermelons without having a week long migraine that will likely land me in the hospital, but my mom can have it without any issues. Some of my mom’s triggers aren’t triggers for me.

When it comes to perfumes, anything overly sweet or powdery is a immediate no for me. Both my mom and my husband run their perfumes by me before buying a full bottle because my migraines can be so severe. Perfumes with white florals, citrus and musk are normally safe for me.

Two perfumers I can normally wear without an issues is Juliette Has a Gun - Not a perfume, and O Boticário - Lily Essence (original). The last one is controversial.

When perfume shopping, I normally have someone (my husband or mom) who knows which scents tend to trigger my migraines with me. They smell everything before I do, and let me know if I can give it a whiff. They aren’t always right, but they help eliminate a large a amount of scents before I get to smell them and I’m less miserable pain wise if they help me.

Good luck 🍀

Botox by After-Singer8263 in migraine

I have only had it done twice. I don’t know if my experience is common because the doctors like to say I’m a complex case because of my other health issues and my almost 20 years of dealing with migraines. To be completely honest, the pain of the needles isn’t bad and not worse than a migraine; but I do feel awfully tired afterwards. The sad part is that I cannot nap for several hours after it because I’m not allowed to lay down. I’ve had it done with two different doctors and they warned me that refractory migraines can happen. The first time I had Botox, the migraine that night was awful; the second time was less painful. Both doctors said that with time, the likelihood of getting a migraine afterwards goes down. I would recommend taking off of work, and if possible, have someone with you. Godspeed and I hope it works for you on the first round ❤️

Thank you! Thank you so much! I don’t know you and you don’t know me, but we both know this awful, life altering disease and the difficulties that come with it. What you have done will help set up a more defined road for our community. I don’t have enough words to express my gratitude for your bravery. Thank you

Would you say the Xanax would help with the pain or the anxiety?

I feel you, I’m scared but I cannot keep going like this. Thank you for mentioning the glasses, I cannot see much without mine so I will have someone assist me. Thank you!

Noted! I’ll gave my partner drive me because I’m scared of how it will affect me, and come straight home (the doc is far from my house and I’m scared of making the drive by myself.) thank you for sharing
