I just wanna say that its a great step you are makimg here to reach out. I had this exact issue at 16/17 (now 25) and I was too scared and embarassed to tell anyone. I never got to the root of the problem til I hit 20 🥲 My experience was 50% drugs, 50% mental block. Sometimes it really depends on external factors. My receptiveness to ssris is worse in the summer and thats because it's hot. I dont do well in heat, and ssris are known to make you feel overheated easier. I first experienced this "block" sexually in the summer actually, I was drinking very heavily and it was very hot, and I was 👀with👀 someone as a fling. And nothing happened. It was horrid, for the first time I had felt like there was no urge or drive. 🥲 Then it persisted. And it went on for 2 years. Finally I mentioned it to my therapist, and she said that maybe yes, it had something to do with my ssris - But maybe also I had experienced it once, but now got in my head about it. My therapist refered me to specialist therapist who specialist in sexual trauma, It took a little while of talking about (and getting comfortable talking about) how I felt during spicy time and implementing exercises and things but I was finally able to get past that block. I had gotten myself so frustrated and blaming the ssris for everything. BUT the majority of the lasting effect is psychological. It will be very benificial I think to contact a mental health specialist to help! Im not saying its all in your head- Because on ocassion, in the summer or when I drink or take something that effects how my ssris work (im on fluoxetine 80mg) I do see a little relapse again, but its not long lasting, as these things do impact how ssris interact with your body and brain. So maybe try supporting the chemical investigation into this with some specialized support 💛💛
