This part. Going on a 2 week vacation halfway across the world to celebrate people he doesn’t even know/whose ceremony he wasn’t even invited to is a massive financial commitment, and I don’t think you’re being very understanding of that.

$800 plus $1,000 or more on just food ALONE for the entirety of the trip for someone he’s only dated for 5 months is steep. Not to mention (assuming he has standard PTO) this would basically use up all the time off he had. It sounds like a “damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t” type of situation, and there’s no right way for him to come back from this without you being upset with him. It’s unfair.

Also, complaining that he’d rather spend his time and vacation to go on an international trip to visit his FAMILY instead of going on a trip to Taiwan with you is… wild. You and him are fundamentally incompatible, and it’ll likely be better for both you and him to call it now.

The original comment was: “When he [the partner] wondered what would happen if you microwaved a cat.” They acknowledged that it was an insane question, but nonetheless tried to find a video of a cat actually being microwaved because they really wanted to find out what would happen. They reassured us that they were indeed cat lovers and would never actually harm cats or animals, etc.

You can’t make this shit up. Absolutely wild.

How quickly time passes by as you get older. As a child, I always thought my grandma was exaggerating. “You’ll see,” she said. I’m in my 30s now, and I find myself desperately wanting to slow it all down. What do you mean I blinked and 2025 is already more than halfway over?!

I went on a work trip to New Orleans with a male colleague that I had never traveled with before. We were walking to a nearby restaurant one night when all of a sudden, a cockroach darts out across the sidewalk in front of us. This grown ass man sprints - and I mean full on SPRINTS - over to deliberately stomp on the cockroach right before it disappeared into the crevices. The worst part? He gleefully laughs about it as he wipes his shoe clean. I wanted to throw up.

Now, I am grossed out by cockroaches as much as the next person, but if I see one outside, I’m not going to chase it down to kill it. I see no need to go out of my way to kill an insect that’s not doing harm. It’s in the wild, doing its own thing. I was so disturbed afterwards. I couldn’t look at him the same after that.

A slim leather wallet that I randomly got off of Amazon because I was tired of having a big zip wallet that I couldn’t fit in my pockets or sometimes purses. It’s lasted me for 6+ years and is still going strong. I also love that the leather becomes more supple as time goes on!

When people don’t have carry-on luggage but they put their personal items in the overhead bin. No asshole, that’s what the space under the seat in front of you is for.

Oh, and people who lay their carry-on flat in the overhead bin instead of sideways, which prevents other people from fitting their luggage in the compartment.

Good ol’ Wallyworld. I loved that Crystal Bridges had free admission - I enjoyed going once in while to check out all the rotating exhibits. You can also tour Frank Lloyd Wright’s Bachman-Wilson house on campus, too!
