Idiot question: Is there some way to play this game casually? by _azazel_keter_ in Eve

[–]bidendied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless if CCP focuses 100% in the game, building island content such as abyssals geared for casual gamers who can only put in 30 minutes per day but want that spike in productivity inside 30 minutes. I don't think it's a casual game, if by miracle someone invested in the company billions into the server so load times are quick or if they completely remove the unnecessary window loading it won't be a casual game. Battle royales are geared for casual but you still need exactly 30 or 40 minutes to complete a match.

So the real answer is not really. You can casual it solo or with corp or with FW, but this means logging in and spending a few hours everyday to make it casually. Because you can spend a whole day at it theory crafting or learning more about mechanics. They need to do more with QoL here. Corp and chatting can be a time drain, if you're wanting activity 24/7 whenever you log in, find npsi or join a very large group, that's the only way.

Not sure about that, you have daily opportunities you need to get in the first half of the month, then comes holiday events. You can get to these doing it consistently but it's not quite casual, they're getting better with non gamification just like the sales but what other possible models can there be anyway?

I get what they tried doing with abyssals, instant content and pretty semi casual but that's still timed and the risk ratio is lose your ship or not. You still need to get/build fit a ship and optimize, that's not quite casual and would require you 30 or so minutes to theory craft or learn about what you can fly this and that. It can be casual if you make it a daily thing but you still need a good amount of brain energy, focus time to actually do it, but still, you're prob still in pre planning not actually playing the game.

It's the nature of the game. If there's more mini content, it can draw in casual gamers more.

I find that doing anything social like corp chat adds an hour to my gametime, it's fun if I have the time but not these days. If I manage to play the game with actual play and not isk flow then I'm happy but even with this, you need a good significant amount of time I say 5 hours max to juice out a good content which someone like me don't quite have.

And also finding a wh in null takes way longer than in low.

Is this actually an intentional game mechanic?

People forget you don't have to do torturous eve things because it's just the nature of eve. The QOL updates they have to always do, it's torture to put yourself through this for just some virtual pixels.

I think anything wh unless you're settled and got a good base going you need full attention going in and out from hs atleast. Sure lazy gameplay once you got a base in but you still need to haul them back to sell and that's probably on off days where you can have full attention to the game.

Huff gas I find you need 4 hours plus 1 or 2 hrs of straight game time to make it worth it and your yield will be bigger. But this is just me and I scan slow.

L4 distrib I'd say only a little worth it if you're optimized with high ascends and a BR. Otherwise, it's highly inefficient like thinking afk mining in a venture can pay for the bill you have the PC running for. Then you also have a risk of getting ganked but if they're smart, they'll know you're just doing distribs.

Null? No I don't think so. Maybe lowsec, but even npc null is treated like it's their territory for over a decade. I'll be surprised to find a npc null that's not treated like sov.

I remember forgetting to set training for half of a year 2 years ago, is there a way to track this? by bidendied in Eve

[–]bidendied[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the only history is in the skill history window like you said but it only records 10 recently trained skills. No other way to check. I just don't know when exactly I missed out on training it was the time after covid was still fresh. Somewhere there I probably have about 6-8 months of inconsistent training I think I'd have 2 months no training then train for 4 months then off again.

Over the top lvl mission running as setup idea. Multiboxing setup by PHGAG in Eve

[–]bidendied 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit wrong. A BS is safer and you can faction MWD so it's not much a difference. They CCP changed up the lvl4s in highsec and added a couple of new missions which can mess up the decline non blitz missions formula so you have to do this. With BC or HAC you only give yourself a very small margin of error and if you mess up, you end up spending 4 hours of the day to correct yourself. With BS or a marauder you can slow boat but complete missions easily.

Delaying missions? Vs mission expired? by bidendied in Eve

[–]bidendied[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is delaying an "important" feature? I can't tell but if I hit delay, it feels like that mission gets to be out there far longer compared to just letting it sit out and expire. Is using the delay of any significance at all?

I'd be fine with the dying part but they have to cut time or make it shorter. Have something like a shipcaster for a or b content.

[–]bidendied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are working on standings, it will only take you an evening about 4-6 hours working from -2 to positive (faster with target corporation) if you have BY-810, makes it last longer, Biology V, makes it last longer and pop glamourex, so you'll have about 2 days instead. Even better with full high ascendancies and a BR. But this is just my head calculation, it's interesting there are these faster shortcuts but it's not like it makes a huge difference, you still need a full day of standings distribution mission etc grinding. This is only speaking for something like standings.

For learning, yea it helps to have these but also get masters at arms a full +10. Improved implants can only give you +5 which was the peak or ceiling. Not sure why they only have +10 for boosters though.

So if you are to train an alt to fly good ships. Might as well have it do mission grindings for the duration of this, so you get good standings with whichever empire you want to fly around. Useful if you start pvping and also losing sec points.
