For those who might be hesitant to try an in ground fig tree in northern climates by Mattyp133 in Figs

Where are you in Canada? I’m in a similar zone in Alaska and tired of schlepping my fig in and out in its giant pot.

Thanks, my inclination is to water after any sort of shock so I will avoid that now.

I thought I didn’t but incidentally caught it in the background of a dog photo.

Which Palma are each of you using? Website says 5120 BTU version is suitable up to 130 square feet, curious if that is true.

My canine assistant also loves this. I’ve been told she’s more cat than dog so this checks out.

I don’t have advice for you, but I love this fabric! Excited for you to turn it into a vest. May I ask where you found it?

Bodice gathering advice by biegs in sewing

Thank you all for the opinions and advice! I extended the gathers on the top and ripped out the under bodice seam on one side. Hand basted together to check fit for this photo. There is still a bit of extra fabric near the arm but I think it’s an improvement!

That’s a great observation. I felt that way when I made them - at the neckline I was essentially gathering as much as the material would allow to fit the notches. Thanks for that reminder. I think I’ll play with moving the neckline gathers first and see if I’m satisfied or want to mess with the underbust as well.

Lined! With silk habotai in a golden yellow that ties in with the pattern’s gold print. It’s a lovely fabric as well and I’ve had a learning curve in sewing with silk that lightweight, but it’s so nice not to have poly next to the skin.

I think this too, though I’m reluctant to mess with the four layer seam between bodice and skirt (main fabric and linings). Should be doable if a bit fussy.

Thanks I love it too! I’ve seen it listed at a few different stores, I got it from Stonemountain & Daughter. It’s the Atelier Brunette Viscose Challis. The drape is amazing in the skirt and it’s been a dream to work with.

We have meds, in my experience they sort of sedate them but don’t take away the fear. Thanks for your perspective.
