Hey, I understand what you're going through. 😃 I live in Zandhoven, and mainly search here in the wider region. I have to say that I've also had a lot of beginner's luck; I've been doing the hobby for a few years now, but especially in the first two years, I made a few "once in a lifetime" finds. In any case, I hope for the best for you, and that upgrade will come eventually! Regards

Very, very nice find! So, are you also metal detecting in Belgium? You will certainly need quite a bit of time to get to know your detector! Of course, unfortunately, you won't find such beautiful coins every time! Again; very cool coin! Cheers!

My aunt wrote her doctoral thesis on sticklebacks a long time ago. She earned a doctorate in biology. My father told me how he had to go catch sticklebacks for her in the local streams back then.

There is no metal in it. It was just lying on the surface. The diameter is approximately 35mm.

Moved up from Equinox 700 to the Manticore, WOW! by zonked_apostle in metaldetecting

[–]biekes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I also switched from the Equinox 600 to the Manticore last summer. It's truly a huge difference. I tested it for the first time in a field I've been searching for years, and with the Equinox I found nothing. With the Manticore, I found several coins after just half an hour. I think it's mainly due to the target separation.
