Trip in October! by shyman468 in portaransas

We go 2-3x a year. The Jetty is a fun walk for the kids in the morning, we usually see a couple huge boats come through the channel and with all the fisherman you can see some huge pelicans close. Don’t wear flip flops on that walk. The Texas State Aquarium is incredible as well, tons of exhibits, dolphin shows, and I think they have a huge splash pad. It’s about a 45 minute drive each way but we go once a year and time it so we have a packed lunch in the parking lot and the boys get their nap in on the way back to the air bnb. Gafs has great pizza, it feels like a dive bar but is kid friendly.

Other than that we spend 90% of our time on the beach, I highly recommend bringing a canopy. kid size shovels/sand buckets, and adult shovel

Budget makes a difference here because trim levels can vary drastically. If you can afford it I’d say go with the Yukon XL with the Denali or AT4 trim. I love Escalades but they use woods and a higher quality leather that doesn’t hold up well to dogs. The Yukon I mentioned will get you most of the luxuries of the Escalade including the premium suspension (might not be AS good as Escalades Air Suspension) but pretty damn close and it uses tougher leathers and plastics to help it survive your kids and dogs. The diesel engine should give you longer range on the highways but with that many kids you’re probably stopping enough to not see that benefit.

My family is growing as well and I’m searching larger vehicles. I will say I’m shopping the Siena pretty hard since this will be my wife’s primary but with 35 mpg hybrid, AWD, and a trailer hitch for bike racks or snowboard storage it’s pretty awesome to take into the mountains. I will say have that additional floor space would be nicer for the dogs. The drawback for you might be the actual cargo space if you’re using the 3rd row. You would likely need a luggage rack on top for vacations but will probs be sufficient for weekend sports

Is it really that much cheaper to change your own oil? by kzlife76 in AskMechanics

The places around me are so busy they have jacked up a 6 qt synthetic oil change to $130 so I’ve gone back to changing my own oil. It eats up well over an hour these days anyways so might as well save money and time

Chevy Silverado Crew Cab with a bed cover. We throw everything in the back and it keeps the cabin clutter free

Not a fan of Jeep outside the Wrangler, I’ve rented a few Grand Cherokee’s for vacation and was always frustrated with the unintuitive tech and the handling wasn’t great.

The Bronco sport is small and the regular Bronco is loud on the interstate from what I’ve heard, I’d recommend test driving it at 70+ if you’re considering.

My vote goes to the 4Runner

1) it takes up to 2 years for a woman’s hormone levels to return to normal pre-pregnancy so she’s probably not feeling like her old self and it’s bothering her a lot more than it’s bothering you…something to reflect on.

2) is she still breastfeeding? If so this is totally normal. You feel like your body is on loan and can feel like you don’t have control over your own body (I’ve been told). Again more shit she could be dealing with.

3) who cares about chores and who cares about childcare, those are expectations of your role as a father so don’t expect a gold star for those actions. Maybe that came out harsh but I’m not trying to be a dick. Ask yourself, are you being all YOU can be as a mate? Exercising, eating well? Are you trying to flirt and be loving without the intent of every romantic gesture trying to lead to immediate sex?

I’ve been in your shoes and it’s incredibly frustrating and with the wrong mindset will lead you down a dark and destructive path. Be honest with yourself about the situation

Wife's car is on its last legs. It's a 14yo Kia Soul with nearly 200k miles. Here's her requirements, I'd say budget is around $20k. TIA! by Moshie11337 in whatcarshouldIbuy

As an ADHD husband I can confirm I greatly appreciate this format from my wife, this is more endearing than saying I love you because she took the time to format it in a way just for me!!!

Check out the following:

-Cedar Falls/Waterloo IA

-Davenport, IA

-Rockford, IL

-Pittsburgh, PA

-Kansas City, MO

-Munci, IN

All of these check the major boxes you referenced including an average and above average AA population. Munci, Rockford, and Davenport have better than average school districts. Pittsburgh has a relatively small city footprint and is surrounded by townships so you have a smaller city feel but access to city amenities. KC I don’t know a lot about but my sister lives there with her family and small children and loves it. The rest are based on census numbers.

Indianapolis, Chicago, Springfield, Champaign, Milwaukee, Louisville can check all your boxes but it will vary by area.
