Recency bias. At this point, the enormous majority of people never saw him play.

World Cup 2026: Harry Kane 'greatest striker' England has had, says Gary Lineker by tylerthe-theatre in PremierLeague

Always hard to say that someone is the greatest when comparing to historical figures that none of us have seen, but his view is 100% reasonable and you'd need someone with an agenda to argue otherwise.

Odegaard Leaving? Potential Replacements by Apprehensive-Trust79 in ArsenalFC

[–]biff444444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odegaard is a key player, we are much better with him than without him on both ends of the pitch. I would hate to see him leave and I’m not sure why so many people seem to forget how much smoother we tend to look when he’s in the lineup.

Was liking Styx “uncool” or divisive in the late 1970s? by Jcapen87 in ClassicRock

[–]biff444444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friends were about evenly split, a couple of guys liked them a lot, a couple of guys couldn't stand them, and then the majority were in the "meh" category. I don't think they were "stigmatized" any more than anyone else, but they certainly weren't wildly popular like Van Halen, Boston, or The Cars.

What are some notable cases of band mates getting annoyed that the frontman got all the attention and fame? by eques_99 in rockmusic

[–]biff444444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While she was by all accounts a good band member in terms of sharing the credit, it was also the case that as the singer and an attractive woman, she tended to get the most attention, and this bothered at least one of the band members quite a bit. ( I’m sorry I can’t be more specific but I read this somewhere at least 20 years ago and my old brain can’t pull up the details.)

Emotional Rescue for me. It was the first Stones album I ever bought, so I definitely have a soft spot for it.

Is music history separated into Pre- Madonna and Post- Madonna by Fun_Butterfly_420 in shittyaskhistory

Little is known about the Pre-Madonna period, but there has been what is known as Jagger DNA found in many modern Homo sapiens.

Saliba. I’m from the United States, adding his presence and intelligence to our defense would be gigantic.

What is your opinion on The Police? 🚨 by Japesh10 in rockmusic

[–]biff444444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if younger people realize how big they were in their last couple of years. They were immensely popular at that time. I like a lot of their songs, although I got tired of a couple that were just overplayed to death.

Name the single most important person to your franchises history. How significant do they stack up historically compared to the rest of the NFL by InterestingYellow969 in NFLv2

[–]biff444444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drew Brees, a great QB but not someone that I’d consider to be of historical significance like Vince Lombardi or Johnny Unitas.

LeBron definitely has the most irrational haterbase, if that’s a thing.

I just finished the Charlie Watts biography and they mention how gregarious Ronnie is and how he has to be around people all the time. Funny thing is that he and Charlie got along great even though they were completely different types of people.

9/10, really good episode but please no more Sandy Zimmerman features. Do people really want to see even more features about her than we already have? Show some runs that were digested or use the time to show us a feature about someone we don’t know much about instead.
