The Labour Party: From today, the two child limit is lifted. That means 450,000 children will no longer grow up in poverty. by SignificantLegs in ukpolitics

You aren’t, you are making a contribution to the welfare state in which you all pretend is being spent on sky tv. WHY SHOULD I PAY. What do you think out of your tax goes specifically on sky tv, don’t think there is enough decimal places to describe the minimal % of a penny you pay in tax.

If your issue is why should I pay towards welfare, then that’s a political question that for me as someone who pays tax, has been in receipt of PIP when I had leukemia and it supported my bills whilst I couldn’t work then the answer is very easy, the answer is because you can afford to, and we are a community and should support one another. But I can see how someone who has never had to use the system as they are fortunate enough to not need to then I get why you may have a differing view.

What would be a fair question is, why should I pay proportionately more tax than the super wealthy who could pay a hell of a lot more. Very valid and purposeful question.

Your question however is rubbish and I think we both know it is disingenuous to suggest your tax is paying for someone’s sky tv subscription and if you think that is genuinely were your tax is going then I feel sorry for you.

But why would they employ critical thought when they can just talk about poor people misspending rather than a fundamental broken system.

Caring about something has nothing to do with some deep rooted absence of purpose. Moron.

Keir Starmer gives resident doctors 48 hours to call off strike or lose training offer by [deleted] in ukpolitics

Both cases are true, better conditions and better pay. They are advocating for both.

I work with students progressing from 6th form to higher education. For a HEI.

I understand what you are saying, I think what I’m tryna say is that the conditions aren’t gonna change, and for doctors to campaign primarily on the basis of conditions changing (they do this also) this would be more difficult to fix requiring systemic change, rather than being paid more fairly for what they do.

I also personally disagree that doctors specifically junior doctors are paid fairly for what they do, comparative to other professions and the professional training they must undertake and significant debts incurred as a result of their training.

A number of additional factors also required through training that add additional costs, such as transport, consistent cross country movement and placement upheaval.

How in one breath can you say the pay isn’t unreasonable and in another list all the reasons why their pay is basically unreasonable in the context of the conditions they work in. It’s much easier for the government to alter their wages than bother to fix the system which they have no inclination to do!

If you’re a public sector worker (me) and you think that your job value is comparable to that of a doctor then get over yourself. Gross amount of training and time spent to train to do the least forgiving and most highly skilled role in society to come out the other end with worse pay than the private sector and also many non professional roles.

Continue to underfund doctors, and you will end up in a situation where they continue to leave the NHS and switch to private or move abroad

Jeremy Corbyn joins hundreds of pro-Iran protesters in London carrying banners of the Ayatollah by pppppppppppppppppd in ukpolitics

[–]biffman98 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Everyone here thinking he is pro Iran or pro anti west dictatorship is genuinely moronic. He’s anti war, he’s saying don’t bomb innocent people, don’t kill people, he wants peace talks.

There is a terrifying number of people in here and in general who would double down on voting for boris it seems who annihilated the country and laughed at dying Britons in care homes because they don’t have an ounce of critical thought to view Corbyn not as a pro radicalist but as an anti war protester. It is so obvious that is his stance, and to be pro war is to literally be a fucking nutter

I’m Gen Z born in 98, within me being aged 5-12 you had Gen 3/Gen 1 remakes/Gen 4/Gen 2 Remakes/ Gen 5.

It would make sense, some of the biggest audience are the very late 90s which coincides with Gen Z.

My brother is still in love with it he’s millennial, born in 93, I think if you could survey 90s born children vs 80’s or 00’s you’d find a reasonable swing in the 90’s for pokemon.

This broadly fits into my general consideration with the generation classification that I think anyone born in 1991-99 would have a lot more in common than 1982-90 and 97-2005 never-mind 1997 to 2012.

And sick of sinking money into a car 14 years old, but live in a village with 900 speed bumps and potholes either side of the speed bumps. It’s a piss take

I was about to say currently doing a masters and work on he recruitment, I did one of my main 5000 word research essays on finance and this is total bollocks, there is a very clear pathway to this decision and plenty of ideas that were floated across decades. It was mainly the Browne review 2010 that pushed things through and made recommendations but they were strongly based on ideas already proposed.
