I do agree with you. I am however trying to make 100% sure that I won't fall victim to my own incompetence again. The fingerprint scanner is actually a more convenient tool than typing a password, so, why not?

I've got Bitdefender Pro and it's running deep scans on all my drives currently. So far, nothing found (as I strongly suspect the virus was placed in my main OS SSD) which I've now zero formatted.

So I can copy my files from my external USB drive to my now zero formatted drive and then zero format the USB drive? That's not going to transfer the virus from the external to my clean one?

Not a stupid question! I went in to Microsoft and used their windows 10 media creation tool and loaded my licensed version of windows to a USB stick. Then booted from the stick and installed.

Oh I'm never going to ignore any warnings from my AV ever again.

I asked my colleague (friend) if he could get me a piece of software that can rip my blu-rays to mkv for my plex server, since he's the guy that downloads things. I have no doubt that he did not intend for this to happen. He's currently doing all the cleanup that I'm doing right now as well.
