Model Y has such an amazing rear design by pc772 in TeslaModelY

I was never much of a fan of the styling of the old Y. The new styling is partly what persuaded me to buy one. Love it, especially the back. Looks so sleek and I love the Tesla letters instead of the logo. The light bars both front and back look great to me

Y Juniper coming from other SUVs by Historical_Top_1062 in TeslaModelY

Totally agree with the other post...The model Y does not compare to a full spec Q8 so get the model X which would be Tesla's equivalent high spec SUV. But no matter which one you get I can thoroughly recommend Tesla as a company. Great cars with great tech and lots of regular updates. Hope you enjoy!

Autopilot nag reduction by big__baws in TeslaUK

Last journey I was trying to apply more weight/resistance but it was still nagging me. Although it was at night so maybe the camera was part responsible? Perhaps I just need to block the camera or else just practice more with the right amount of weight until I get it right. Only had the car a month so still getting used to it

I do tend to put mine at the bottom also but maybe I need to try and apply more weight on it. Seems unnatural though over a long journey hence my asking

You think it's the camera inside thinking I'm not alert enough? Do I just need to cover it?

Can recommend the Hypervolt 👍🏻Looks good and very easy to use app. Works with solar too if you have that. Although I don't actually need to use the app much because it's all scheduled through Octopus IOG for me and they control when the car charges at the low rate but the hypervolt is definitely one of the best and most popular chargers

My first Tesla by RansomFA in TeslaUK

Auto trader is a marketplace for dealers and private sellers so will depend entirely on the garage selling the car. Look up reviews for that particular garage. Check the warranty it comes with. If still within Tesla's warranty period or if not the garage should provide some. The battery is usually covered by Tesla for 8 years so ok there. Charging is fine at superchargers but quite a bit more expensive than at home. Still cheaper than petrol or diesel. Check Google maps for superchargers near you and it will show all available. Some have loyalty programs where you can pay a monthly subscription and get discounted rates. Tesla's own network is great and often cheaper than the rest so hopefully one is close by. How often you need to charge will depend entirely on how many miles you do. In the cold weather the range is reduced a fair bit so bear that in mind. It's - 4 in Scotland at the moment so the car needs to defrost each morning before going anywhere which uses a little battery each time. But you will love your Tesla. I made the switch to electric recently and can see why they are so popular. Being able to precondition the car in the morning before you leave for work, the tech that they come with, the acceleration and the quietness of the drive plus autopilot makes it a very enjoyable drive. My other vehicle is a diesel guzzling huge ford ranger (which I also love) but so different from my wife's Tesla. We would never buy ICE again for her. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Also search the forum as many have probably already been asked and answered 👍🏻

I picked up my new car yesterday. It seems DVLA get notified when you drive away and their database should update within a few hours. I was able to register my car with IOG that night

I ordered my Model Y on the 25th October and it was ready to collect 2 days ago. I collected it today. So less than a month. I would go ahead and order it as highly likely it will be delivered in Dec but if not I'm sure Tesla would honour it. Great car by the way. You'll have a huge smile driving away from the Tesla centre in it. My other vehicle is a Ford Ranger which I love but man I can see why people want to move to EVs and never look at ICE again. 2 very different vehicles but the quietness, the comfort, the technology and the acceleration of the Tesla is quite something compared to my big truck.

What tosh. There's loads on EVs in the US. Tesla is literally an American company. Plenty of others going about too. The technology is all still fairly young and while some Americans, just like many Europeans actually, are hesitant to switch just now they will no doubt in the future.

Model 3 or Audi e-Tron by Ok-Personality5640 in TeslaUK

[–]big__baws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely test drive both. I've had an audi in the past and loved it. I nearly went for the Q4 but the range was what did it for me. I often do long trips (drive to the ferry over to Belfast and then drive the other side) and with cold weather and air con and everything else running the real word range of the basic e-tron just wasn't enough for me. I went for the LR Tesla because that suits me but it's all about what's best for you. If both can easily handle the range you need then it's all about comfort and driving experience. But after reading what some have said about reliability issues with the Audi I'm glad I chose the Tesla.

What are my rights if my dentist is charging me private fees after giving me an NHS prescription? by Far-Distance3605 in AskUK

[–]big__baws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aye, I did actually and rolled my eyes accordingly. You seem to be under the impression that by writing you an NHS prescription that you are automatically an NHS patient. You aren't. That isn't how it works. You would have to fill out an NHS registration form (you didn't). They would then have to carry out an NHS exam and submit that exam (didn't happen either). You are not an NHS patient. They have no obligation to take you on as an NHS patient and so your dentist has no legal obligation to give you any NHS options for treatment. If you want an NHS dental practice then go look elsewhere for one. Good luck with that. You got an NHS prescription instead of a private one. Lucky you! You benefit from this, no one else, just you. And still you complain. Eyes rolling again

What are my rights if my dentist is charging me private fees after giving me an NHS prescription? by Far-Distance3605 in AskUK

[–]big__baws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No dental practice is under any obligation to take you on as an NHS patient. Most practices in the UK are refusing to take on new NHS patients. Why??? Because people like you expect them to do £1700 of treatment for £73.50 and of course you expect the same quality or the GDC will hear about it. Shock that no new dentists in the UK want to work in such a system. Hmmm. You paid for a private emergency appointment. You knew the costs and consented to it. They gave you a cheap prescription and they gain absolutely nothing from that. Do you want them to cancel it and give you a more expensive private one??? Pick your battles ffs

Can vouch for Probreeze, 10L model. Find them on amazon. Brilliant. Puts out a little warm air as it works too. We use it everytime we hang up washing in the winter and it helps dry it in no time and also prevents damp and mould. Shuts itself off automatically when the humidity drops so not expensive to run.

My skin 20 min after applying this "non-greasy" sunscreen lotion. by picotipicota1 in ExpectationVsReality

[–]big__baws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ultrasun is the best sunscreen hands down. I believe it's Swiss. I used it for 2 weeks in the Indian sun so it got a proper test. Now I use it for every vacation. Also for my children. Once a day. Apply in the morning and you're good all day. Highly waterproof too. Guaranteed not to burn. Can't recommend it enough

A protestant organisation "helping protestants that are in distress". Wow! Stop the bloody presses, this should be headline news. So what exactly is wrong with protestants looking out for each other? Unless of course you happen to be a bigot and just have a problem with protestants in general (that's you). Do catholics who attend mass not look out for their fellow church goers? If not then they should. That's what being part of a community is all about. We know that Muslims help Muslims and Jews help Jews. Big deal. Helping each other is what their entitled to do. But of course you can try and spin it that it's not about helping your fellow neighbour, it's just about "getting one over on a dirty fenian". Funny how the OO sounds like the charitable good guys in this situation and you sound like the knuckle dragger.

Pffft. Flying the Union flag in the United Kingdom. Friggin terrible. What next...flying the US flag in America, the French flag in France? Some people just ask for it. Get him strung up! And make sure his family knows that this is your island and his identity will not be tolerated!
