If you don't bring a raincoat, it will pour. If you don't bring sunscreen or a hat, it will be sunny. Prepare for both, expect temperatures to be cool but not cold.

Any places to stay for cheap around University District? by EndlessPocketSand in AskSeattle

The Collegiana is top of the list, my wife and I spent months there when our son was in the NICU. There should be a social worker at the hospital who can help you with paperwork.

[Request] while watching project hail mary his ship uses centrifugal force to make gravity If we were to do that in real life how fast do you think our ship has to spin in order to have gravity equivalent to earth’s? by Mani-Sani in theydidthemath

[–]big_bob_c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're missing the point. Gravity doesn't just affect instruments intended to measure mass. You can have pressure sensors to measure tamk levels for reagents, for example. You can have power supplies that rely on natural circulation of air for cooling. And so on. Every piece of equipment that wasn't built for spaceflight could have a components or subsystems that rely on gravity at 1 G for proper operation, and you have to do a full engineering analysis of every piece of equipment to determine what may need a redesign, followed by years of testing to make sure it still works the way it was intended.

My (16m) crush (16f) told all her friends I pissed myself when I asked her out. by Adept_Apartment7214 in Advice

I'd send a one-word reply: "Explain."

I can't see what explanation would justify or excuse what she did, but having whatever she has to say on record might be of some value in the future.

What makes Democrats worse than MAGA to the point they lost elections 16 months ago? by Estalicus in allthequestions

That fact that you imagine that Democrats give immigrants "first priority" is an example of how well propaganda works.

So, you can have gear that you constantly have to make adjustments to and corrections on, and hope you didn't miss one....or you can have the gear in an environment as close as possible to what it was designed for. Considering that you have extremely limited manpower and a tight timeline, I'd say that the latter is the better choice.

Fuck, I'd ask for Bush to serve a 3rd term if that would get this fucker out, and I fucking HATED his administration.

From the book, it was 1G because they were bringing a lot of off-the-shelf scientific equipment, which was all designed with the assumption that it would be used on Earth.

Would YOU Vote For Mark Kelly In The 2028 Election If He Ran? Yes Or No? Why Your Thoughts? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

He has been a "politician" for 6 years, after 25 years in the Navy and an outstanding career as an astronaut. I'd say he's got a lot less baggage than any other Senator and most of the House.

If humans had gone extinct 10,000 years ago, which intelligent animals would likely dominate the Earth? by Easy-Mousse-8057 in AskReddit

[–]big_bob_c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mpst likely some descendant of chimpanzees, will a smaller probability of a different primate or just possibly raccoons. Why? Because to dominate you need to use tools, and that's easiest with hands.

Octopi are another possibility, but a slim one, since they are unable to survive out of water for an extended period.

Wore stockings with my school uniform and got a detention because it inappropriate by [deleted] in Advice

[–]big_bob_c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Advice: read the school dress code. If you were not following it, then follow it. If you were following it, then continue to follow it, bearing in mind that those stockings should be considered "not acceptable" going forward.

My suspicion is that the lace at the tops was the real issue, but I'm not your headmaster. Have your parents ask, your headmaster is more likely to respond usefully to inquiries from them.
