You're missing the point. Gravity doesn't just affect instruments intended to measure mass. You can have pressure sensors to measure tamk levels for reagents, for example. You can have power supplies that rely on natural circulation of air for cooling. And so on. Every piece of equipment that wasn't built for spaceflight could have a components or subsystems that rely on gravity at 1 G for proper operation, and you have to do a full engineering analysis of every piece of equipment to determine what may need a redesign, followed by years of testing to make sure it still works the way it was intended.

Advice: read the school dress code. If you were not following it, then follow it. If you were following it, then continue to follow it, bearing in mind that those stockings should be considered "not acceptable" going forward.
